         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Gather all your materials &amp; obtain spinach leaves and punch-out 30 holes by using the hole puncher&nbsp;</li><li>To make different concentrations of bicarbonate* Pour 900 mL of distilled water into a beaker&nbsp;</li><li>Pour one tiny drop of soap into beaker&nbsp;</li><li>&nbsp;Measure the baking soda to .90 grams and add it to the beaker using the stirring rod to mix the solution. The solution made will be the control group.&nbsp;</li><li>Repeat the steps above by doubling and halving the baking soda &nbsp;</li><li>Then place 10 leaf disks at the bottom of each syringe and insert 5 mL of bicarbonate solution into each syringe.</li><li>Create a vacuum by placing a finger over the opening of the syringe and draw back the plunger and hold for a few seconds. If done correctly, leaves should float down when your finger is released.&nbsp;</li><li>&nbsp;Lastly place the 3 syringes underneath the lamp placing them on top of the box.</li><li>Observe how many leaf disks float on each syringe for 18 minutes.</li></ul><div><br><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In this experiment we assessed the rate of photosynthesis in spinach leaves. To measure the rate we cut out 30 leaf disks using a hole puncher. Then ten disks were placed in a syringe and 5ml of bicarbonate solution was added at different concentrations. A vacuum was then created in all of the syringes; by placing a finger over the opening of the syringe. Next the plunger was drawn back and held for a few seconds. Causing the disks to float down at last the syringes were placed under a lamp for eighteen minutes. To observe the rate of photosynthesis by counting the number of disks that float over time. &nbsp;</div><div><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It is hypothesized that the number of disks that will float up will increase when the concentration of bicarbonate is higher. The same thing goes if the concentration is lower the rate of disk that flow up will decrease. As supported by the data table. A syringe with double the concentration had 2 disks floating during 5 minutes. While the syringe with half the concentration still had zero disk floating during 5 minutes.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

The more carbon dioxide available for Rubisco(enzyme involved in photosynthesis) the higher the rate. Thus the rate of photosynthesis increases when more carbon dioxide is available.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
