James Watt improved on his idea by making his invention more useful and was able to be put to other uses as stated; " Its first application was to more quickly and efficiently pump water out of coal mines, to better allow for extraction of the natural resource, but Watt’s engine worked well enough to be put to other uses; he became a wealthy man. After his patent ran out in 1800, others improved upon his engine". (Big History Project, Threshold 9; The Industrial Revolution, Page 6)

Britain tried to keep secret how its machines were made, but people went there to learn about them and took the techniques back home. Sometimes they smuggled the machines out in rowboats to neighboring countries. The first countries after Britain to develop factories and railroads were Belgium, Switzerland, France, and the states that became Germany. Building a national railroad system proved an essential part of industrialization. Belgium began its railroads in 1834, France in 1842, Switzerland in 1847, and Germany in the 1850s.

This changed the way humans live now due to the fact that they are far safer than it ever was before. Innovative methods have come into play such as air bags for car crashes, life rafts for damaged marine vehicles, and even parachutes for airplane emergencies. Not only has transportation safety improved but also the time it takes to get from one place to another.

The industry for electronics have changed in many different ways. Technology has changed the way that people have lived because technology has contributed to better communication methods. Before when people tried to communicate they would need to send letters, then it evolved to the brick phones, now we have smart phones and computers to send information via email and through texts. These changes connect to the Industrial revolution because technology is still evolving and some pieces of technology are getting better, just like the steam engine it was used for just for one, then it was used for many different things.
