This is a video on youtube about exploring the solar system. Youtube is a great tool for students and teachers to use because it is easily accessible. The only downfall of it is that not all the videos may be credible. But this video was created to show students definitions and examples of the solar system and it is credible. The videos are good for students because of the animations and the soft music in the background. It helps students focus in on what the video is saying about science. These videos can be used in the classroom to help teachers in teaching lessons about science. Many times teachers will show these videos to give their students different ways to hear and learn about certain topics. Students learn differently and it need to be taught in a variety of ways to succeed. The ALCOS that this relates to is [SCI.6.3]. It gives an activity of how to group and label the planets in the solar system. Teachers would be able to use this in their classes to help teach the solar system.

(IXL is a website and tool used for many different subjects in school. But for this assignment, I'm going to focus on the math aspect of the website. IXL offers many different ways to practice different math skills for all ages. It is very user friendly and gives students the opportunity to practice their math problems at home or in the classroom. IXL can be used in the classroom by the teacher giving students the opportunity to create their own IXL accounts (allowing the teacher to see the progress) and then giving students modules of IXL to complete. Teachers are able to see how many problems students do and the accuracy. It really helps teachers grasp where each of their students are in terms of learning the material presented in class. IXL has many different aspects that it relates to many different of the ALCOS standards. But an example of one comes from the math section for 3rd grade in ALCOS [3-MD4]. It says to find measurements using rulers and make a line-plot graph with the results. IXL has practice activities that allow for plotting line graphs on the computer.

Brain Pop is a popular website for students and teachers. It is used to show animated videos along with many other resources. Brain Pops can be used for a variety of subjects in school but for this curation it is connected with science. Brain Pop can be used in the classroom for teachers to share videos with their students along with making practice sheets to go along with the science material presented in class. Brain Pop is good for students to use as a tool with the animations because it keeps them engaged in the content. This coincides with the ALCOS standard in science [SCI.5.10]. In summary it focuses on animals in the water and that is the lesson in the brain pop video. Overall BrainPop is a good tool for students to use in all subjects because it allows students to take information presented in class and learn about it in a different way with animations and other practice tools.

ABC mouse is a website tool that is for ages 2-8. years old. It's a early learning academy that has over 9,000 different resources for students and teachers to use in and out of the classroom. There are many different videos, lessons, practice activities, etc that allow for students to be engaged in their learning. It can be used in the classroom to help assist the teacher with lessons or to give students a different way to access information and a different way to learn in topics. An ALCOS standard that fits this is [5-FN1]. It explains how to use the "gallon man" activity when teaching students about liquid measurements and ABC has videos on the gallon man and different ways to help students fully understand the liquid measurement lesson in math.

Math Central

Math central is a website used primarily for teachers to lesson plan and come up with ways to incorporate math concepts into their teaching. The website was created by a teacher named Debbie Penner who uses different activities in her classroom and she wanted to share with other teachers. There is a section of the website for teacher resources, but then also a section for students to type in keywords if they have any questions regarding math and she has uploaded some resources for them as well. This can be used in the classroom directly because all of Debbie's ideas can help teachers come up with activities to do in the classroom. Debbie's activities are easily transferable into the classroom; that is the point of the website. Similar to Numberock, this website correlates with ALCOS standards in math. But just one example would be learning how to subtract. [1-OA4]. In summary it says to understand subtraction as the opposite of addition. This website is a good tool for math because it gives teachers a resource to go to when they are stuck on how to explain different aspects of math and it gives them different activities to present to their class, which will ultimately improve the students learning of particular topics.

Brains On is a podcast for children and young adults. This platform is used for children to ask questions and get them answered by co-hosts who are kid scientists. It covers all sorts of topics and is available on apple podcasts for children to listen to whenever they have science topics. This could be used in a classroom setting with the teacher playing the podcast for students to listen to. The teacher and search for podcasts that coincide with their lesson plans and then play them allowed in class as opposed to playing a video. Audio (podcasts) are great for students minds because it makes them focus and picture what they are hearing. This podcast in particular is good for students because it is co-hosted by kid scientists and they are very relatable as well as reliable sources. This relates to the ALCOS standard of science in all aspects. An example is [E4.6] .

Numerock is a website tool to help students practice math. This website is a great resource because it covers all areas of math and can be used for all different grade levels. It is most known for videos that help students understand math lessons more. For example, there are videos on how to convert fractions to decimals or how to round numbers, etc. While videos are at the forefront of this website, it can also be used to download and print practice worksheets to practice math at home or in the classroom independently. I believe that this website is great for math practice because it appears to be engaging in the songs and videos used so it really entices students to want to watch, listen, and learn more about math. In the classroom this tool can be used to help better explain a math lesson. Videos often times help students understand something in a different way than the teacher explained it. Some students are more visual learners, so the videos and songs might help them. It is important in teaching to not just teach to one style of learning. Adjusting and adapting to all learning styles is something all teachers need to focus on in the classroom. I believe that Numberock has the ability to reach different learning styles and helps present math information in a fun and exciting way for students. This website correlates to the ALCOS standard of math in many different ways. But one example is with rounding whole numbers. In summary it says to use number place values to help round to the nearest tenth [3-NBT1].

iThe science journal is a website/journal for kids and teens that has many different articles and research based tools related to science. There are all different topics and students are able to use the resources because they are all peer reviewed by scientists to ensure credibility. This could be used in the classroom to assist students in learning about different science topics, as well as having to do research in science. Students can use the sources published in this journal to help guide their research and science knowledge. Teachers can recommend this journal to ensure that students are finding and using credible information. The ALCOS standard is [SCI.2.2]. In summary it states that students will show how different living organisms live in different environments. The Science Journal will give students resources to find information to be able to participate in these activities. It is overall a great resource for students to find information about science that they know will be credible.

Bill Nye the Science Guy has been around for decades. He is most known for making science videos that give lessons and experiment on numerous different topics within science. This particular one is a video on heat. He goes into detail explaining heat and then he will show an experiment to go along with it. These videos are great for students because they are entertaining and they give students a glimpse into putting science into action in real life. These videos are frequently used in the classroom to show students more examples and give more information on particular science topics. Bill Nye is a very smart and informative scientist and students tend to be engaged and listen to what he has to say. For this particular video, the ALCOS standard is [SCI.2.7]. It focuses on how heat can be created. Bill Nye is a great tool for students to use in school and at home to learn more about science in their every day lives.

Addition Tables

This is an image of addition facts. These facts are all compiled together to help organize the addition facts, and ultimately help students learn them. The whole number sentences are listed so that way students are able to practice and know the answers off the top of their heads. This would be used in a classroom setting with having the students practice them at home and then come into school knowing them to do activities. Teachers can do activities of shouting out addition tables and calling on students for the answer. Or worksheets might have the addition facts built in and by giving this resource to students, they are able to double check if they need a refresher on their facts. This table is great for math because it gives students the ability to practice their facts on their own if they wish or they can use it as a tool to reference if they are unsure of any addition facts for math class. This image correlates with the ALCOS content of Mathematics, grade 3. [3-OA1]. In summary, the example given by ALCOS says, understand how whole numbers coincide with multiplication (ex: 6x7 is 6 groups of 7 objects).
