In the 1970's they changed the drinking age to 18 and older. However in today society we see that's not the point. People have gotten even sicker since they were still pretty young .In addition to that, once kids turn 21 and start ot use achol, they still havent got their life set up and just mess up their life with the use of the bevrage.

Subsequently, in the late 1970s, states began to increase drinking ages again. ... The 21-year-old drinking age is saving lives... Lowering the legal age to purchase and consume alcohol to 18 would increase the number of 18-20 year-olds killed or injured in motor vehicle crashes.

What is “binge drinking?” Many college alcohol problems are related to binge drinking. Binge drinking is a pattern of drinking that brings blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels to 0.08 g/dL. This typically occurs after 4 drinks for women and 5 drinks for men—in about 2 hours. Drinking this way can pose serious health and safety risks, including car crashes, drunk-driving arrests, sexual assaults, and injuries. Over the long term, frequent binge drinking can damage the liver and other organs.
