An anecdote is that when I arrived they were all Dominicans and it took me a little while to understand their culture but since I have socialized with them much more I can learn more about their culture.
Well, one person influenced me to listen to an artist from his country who is Dominican and now that artist is my favorite.
Yes, I agree because in any place we visit we will get to know more cultures and they can also get to know our cultures.

*When I was a little kid I was taught to not interrupt conversation between adults because my parents told me that it showed no education from me and /or my parents for not teaching me that. Also I was taught not to look bad at adults and because of that I developed and actitud or action that makes me not able to look people at their eyes.

*I think I'm still influenced by my grandpa's action and beliefs since I considered him a really caring and wise person when I lost him I got those ideal of trying to be caring of my family and wise getting more knowledge

*I agree that humans have a need to belong since there are still some social standards or requirement that the society have for us. Also people is always looking for some affect from someone else in order for you to feel better.

Also I was taught that you were suppose to learn how to do things in the house so we can be able to maintain our future wife or husband. The schools in the Dominican Republic are some different from the ones here, because there the lunch is different and in my opinion better, and sometimes the teaching is different.

1.- The education system in Mexico is really similar to others around the world. Middle School students enter at 8:00 am and get out at 2:30 pm. Students have around 10 or 12 subjects, taking 7 subjects per day. In Mexico we didn't have a cafeteria, instead we had to get out of our classrooms and we could be anywhere inside the school, also we had to buy or bring our own food. The way schools grade students is also different from the USA since schools in Mexico grade students from 6 to 10, 6 being the worst grade. Even though it looks hard to get high scores, it is really easy to pass the year even if you missed a lot of homework and absences. What I like about schools in Mexico is that during lunch time we could go to play soccer and do other things.
2.- I'd rather to stay in a school that is in the United States since I think the school system is really impressive and I like it, also I think the test are already hard to complete and pass so I prefer to stay in my comfort zone where I am sure I could pass the classes. If I go to a more challenging school it would be harder for me to manage my time and energy.
3.- I think the purpose of the schools is to prepare teenagers and young people for their future jobs. Also I think the purpose of the schools is to provide knowledge for the students that will help them have better opportunities when trying to get a job. I think the purpose of schools may vary in different countries since there are schools that prepare you for getting professional jobs while there are religious schools etc.

1. My experience with the US system is that it is not that difficult and it is not challenging but there could some improvements with the system. Not all US schools have similar time system but we definitely have similar things like the grading system, the SAT AND PSAT, etc. But there could rom for improvement. For example, there should be a longer lunch period, better cafeteria food, a sort of a lounge area for students who get a pass for it for our school, and a bigger area for a snack bar with different items in it and each week, different students help out in the snack bar, and a variety of clubs students can join.
2. I think I would rather stay in a school in the US because not all countries have the same opportunities and if I went somewhere with a bit more challenge then I would be able to keep up as much and I would feel like it would take up more my personal time where I would want to do other things that I would like to do.
3. I think the purpose of schools is to try and prepare us for the future but I also feel like the school doesn’t teach us enough about the real world and feel like they should teach us about taxes, how to open a bank account, etc and I think most students don’t feel prepare enough to do this things.

In the Dominican Republic my schedule was from 7:30 to 4:00. Grades were graded with the first letters of the alphabet. For example, if it was an A, the percentage was from 95 to 100. Everything was easy for me because I was in 5th grade and it wasn't that difficult. What I liked was that before lunch we had a break.

1.-I think technology had a positive impact on my life because it allowed me to communicate with other members of my family. Also I think even though some of my family members think that technology has a bad impact on me and my grades I think it is not really true since music from my cellphone helps me stay focused. Also people should not complain about technology since technology is all around the world, cars, TV etc.
2.-I do think that society is becoming too dependent on technology because humans are starting to use technology for every single task, if you want to solve math problems there are apps for it, if you want to to write essays there are websites that improve your writing, if workers don't want to continue working then companies implement robots, if you don't want to go out to get food you can use apps to order food and people bring it home.
3.-I think that if we use technology all the time we would not loose touch with our family because you could text them, make face time or call them, however it is not the same to interact with someone through phone or tablets that doing it in person, life would be really sad if not getting hugged by your parents, if not having good moments in this beautiful world. Even though I said technology is not taking away from the ability to be humans in real life, because being human is not only being made of bones and skin, the real ability to be humans is being able to have emotions and feelings, empathy etc.
4.- I think the video is a really good representation of how teenagers and kids react to not having technology(phones, tablet, PC) I wonder if the participants of that experiment were told that their reactions had to be real. Also the video was really interesting because since participants had the opportunity to describe how the felt when no having cellphones, and I think it was an exaggeration, however cellphones are really important to communicate and interact with new people, so I agree with the participant's reactions, except by the kid crying :b

Even though using technology isn't the same as using drugs or alcohol, the brain processes both addictions the same way. 2) I think that sexual education our parents should tell us about it, because that way they teach us the good and bad things about it. But also at school because that way we learn more things, and we learn, for example, not to make fun of anyone for who they are or what they decide to be.

I think I have taught myself different skills or things that I would like to do. For example I learned how to drive a motorcycle, I learned how to use a skateboard of only 2 wheels. The community where I come from still has very conservative ideologies. One idea that is still not accepted 100% there is the idea of 2 people of the same genre getting married or having a relationship. Since I grew up in this environment, I used to see this as something extreme, especially when I arrived in the US which is a country more liberal. When I entered a school in New York my friend talked to me about this as something so common and her ideas influenced me to change that conservative idea that I have. During 9 years I study in a private catholic school where the nuns where very strict in terms of how we behave, the uniform was established differently for each day, and could not respond irrespectfully to adults. The homework was extensive and high in complexity which allowed me to improve my knowledge. I liked my first school but I think they were too extreme and perfectionist because they used to punish me for little mistakes. This was negative for me because now I feel sad or scared when I make mistakes. However the level of perfectionism has decreased becuase in the US, the teachers are more flexible than in my old school. I also had the opportunity to study in a public school and I would say that it is easier than in the private. Because it was public, I was not forced to go to church each tuesday and thursday. The complexity was also less. There is a conflict between private and public schools in Ecuador because students from public schools think that students from private schools are rich and they feel better than others. This steriotype was detrimental fro me because I suffered bullying the first months.
2. It is difficult to choose between school in the US and my school in Ecuador. I think each one gave me great lessons of life and have gave me the opportunity to improve my skills. My school in Ecuador gave me the maturity and focus that I needed in the US. MY school in the US gave me the opportunity to learn a new language and increase my knowledge on different topics. Both places have played a viral role in my life and I think if I missed one, I couldn't have the opportunity to go to a good university as I have now.
3. The purpose of going to school is to learn scientific and professional topics that will allow us to build a life as a professional. All countries do not have the same purpose.
