The Summer of 49 is a story of coming from behind and keeping up if that makes any sense. After The New York Yankees (Antagonist) have had a dynasty for almost 3 decades now and division rival The Boston Red Sox (Protagonists) haven't won a world series since 1918 things looked good New York but not so much for Boston. But in the summer of 49 right before the trade deadline the Red Sox decided to make some changes by making 6 huge trades and hoping they catch up to the Yankees who were 16.5 games in front of them.

Will they catch up to the Bronx Bombers and shock the country or will they come up short again and miss the World Series.

The Yankees have been the best team in baseball since the mid 20’s with an untouchable offense but believe it it or not they have a weakness too and that is their bullpen. While Boston has not had a tough time competing but just getting past the the Yankees while they have always seemed to have 2 or 3 solid pitchers they always seemed come up short offensively.

While the Red Sox seemed to have a pretty solid pitching rotation it was there bats that needed to get hot. Which is why they brought up one of the top prospects in their farm system Ted Williams and was he the solution or what. After the All Star break in the 49 season he hit 321 with 16 HR’s and 60 RBI’s and helped The Sox catch The Yankees.

When I wrote this through out the whole guide I had to deal with expository writing which I really didn’t enjoy to much. The reason why is because I didn’t really get to express my own opinions or thoughts on the story, and this story might not be everyone’s taste but I really enjoyed it because it was my favorite sport with a good story about the game.
