Wellcome everyone to my digital storyboard about my leadership journey. After taking a leadership course in my degree, I create this storyboard and would like to set up 2 goals and action plans for my future career. There are 2 goals for my leadership which are conflict management and emotional handling. I believe that after learning to achieve these goals, I will be able to lead and influence other people.

In the future I want to be an influence leader. I want people to look for me when they are in difficult situations. I want them to trust me and believe that I and him/her can go through everything if we work together. If we can create a vision of how are we going to achieve the goal, I believe anything will be possible. I want to have the ability to handle other people's conflict and emotion, work with them and empower them to be a great leader in the future.

My first goal for this leadership journey is conflict management. Conflict in a workplace is often because of so many reasons. According to Daft, "one of the primary causes of conflict is competition over resources, such as money, information, or supplies. In similar fashion, conflict often occurs simply because people are using those resources to pursue differing goals" (2018, p. 313). There are several ways to handle conflict, and my way of conflict handling is collaborating way, through bargaining or negotiation that both parties could win.

The first step for my action plan for goal 1 is create an atmosphere where people people feel welcome and understand about the workplace's rules and procedures. I will try to encourage people to communicate and express their ideas, problems, emotions, that they are facing. Through communication, I can have a better understanding about other people's problems, and try to come up a solution to overcome the problems. Communication is also good for managers in decision making in good way, to strengthen the relationship between a leader and an employee.

My second step is develop acceptable behaviour for conflict management. I would create a framework for decisioning,, encouraging sound business practices in collaboration, team building, leadership development, and talent management will all help avoid conflicts. Having clearly defined job descriptions so that people know what I expect from them, and a well effective communication will also help to avoid conflicts.

My third step is trying to listen to what are people saying, and trying to put myself in their shoes. I have to ensure that I can understand the message that other people delivered to avoid misunderstanding. I will try to put myself into their shoes to figure out the problem and understand more about other people's perspective. Therefore, I can find a way to solve the conflict and strengthen the relationship between my employees and myself.

My second goal for this leadership journey is emotional handling. This is my goal of how I can develop a skill to handle a pressure in any situation to reduce the impact of emotions to increase my job performance in the future. As Daft stated, "being emotionally intelligent means being able to effectively manage ourselves and our relationships" (2018, p. 146). Controlling my emotion will prevent myself out of control when I'm dealing with some important situation.

My first step to execute emotional handling is self-manage myself. I notice that sometimes during a busy time at work, I'm always frustrated and will not be able to multi-tasking. I need to improve and work on how to handle high pressure. I should also try to calm down to not rush things fast. Maybe I should also try to pause a couple seconds, to look back and see what have I done good, and what have not to refresh my brain to continue the work.

Responding to other people's emotion, I need to listen to other people, listen to what they say. I should acknowledge about their emotions, affirm their emotion without necessarily agreeing with their point. I should also try to find out what is the problem to come up a solution to solve the problem. Emotion is important on how a leader is influence to people. If my emotion is great and I always smile and cheer up, the positive emotion spread to other people as well.
