The Advertisement

The Ad I hope to share is to show the story of my Uncle's life from a Kid growing up to endure his carrier as a Professional Ballet in the Australian Ballet Company. As these tapes play, text on the right hand corner will show how Leukaemia affects people. With this in mind, having a voice over of someone describing Jes'se's life will help bring more emotion to it. The Director of the Ballet Company gave a short speech about Jes'se so it would be best to take voice clips of the Director as the Ad is playing. With the acceptation of these tapes being shown, a compilation of Pictures should be shown of Jes'se life as a kid all the way to when he was in hospital fighting for his life.

Leukaemia

What is it?

The Cancer Leukaemia is based around the blood cells or bone marrow. This can be caused by a problem occurring in the blood production within the bone marrow in which usually affects White Blood Cells and leukocytes.
Leukaemia can affect people up to 55 years of age however it is common to affect people who are 15 years of age.

Leukaemia develops within the DNA of developing blood cells and White cells which can cause damage, this causes the blood cells to grow and divide uncontrollably.

As healthy blood cells due, new cells replaces them, this is developed though the bone marrow. As the bone marrow produces more and more blood cells, they begin to overgrown the blood, preventing the healthy white blood cells from growing and functioning normally. Overtime, the cancerous cells will out number healthy cells in the blood system.

Audience

Age: 20 - 55
My Target audience is based around young adults to older adults both male and female. The Ad can be spread not only in Australia, but in multiple parts of the world. The reason why I choose the age group to be around 20 to 55, is because leukaemia can affect people who are 15 to 55. Bringing awareness and caution to this age group will better the advertisement.

The Message I hope to Promote

I hope to promote a message and awareness of the Cancer 'Leukaemia' and how it affects people. I hope to achieve this by using old tapes of my Uncle who also suffered this illness to show his life as a child growing up with the acceptation of pictures.

The Style of this advertisement will be a documentary style ad, not only featuring my uncle as the main figure for this message, but also having a voice over of his parents explaining his life and his battle of the cancer. This will bring more emotion to the advertisement and will bring awareness to others.

Craft the Message

To show his childhood, I'll be finding old tapes recorded though out his childhood, by selecting relevant tapes as a digital format, these will be joined together with the 10 to 20 mark into the ad, after the 20 mark, I'll be collecting a range of photos of Jes'se in hospital fighting for his life with friends and family surrounding his bed. After the photos are shown, The Ad should end showing his final words saying:
"Mum, do you think Jehovah will forgive me?" - Jes'se Passamani

With this all in mind, a VoiceOver of Jes'se's parents explains how he was as a child to dealing with his illness will help build the ad in terms of emotion.

The Music for this ad must suit the the ad in terms of emotions. to bring more emotion to the ad, a certain type of music will be used to help express the message across more.

Intrest

To bring awareness to my target audience, they need to understand the struggles of battling cancer. By doing this, they will take into consideration of their health or to get a check up by their doctor. Either this, or to spread the word too other's to warn them about this illness.
Most Cancer advertisements are to scare others about the illnesses, but for this case, it's about showing the struggles of cancer, and not to make it look so terrifying as they do on TV. This ad should be an informal Ad, it should be remembered.

Desire

The desire for this ad is to show different types of emotions, it should feel happy about Jes'se life, yet sadness at the same time, it needs to show how he still enjoyed his life and did what he wanted to do.
By the end of the ad, it shouldn't panic the audience in a way, but sustain them to keep an open mind about this illness.

The call to action for this message is to spread awareness for this illness, this should encourage others to maybe keep an eye on their own health so this illness won't have to affect them.

This is just a rough idea of some of the colours that may be seen for this advertisement.
This may not be the correct colour palette as there are multiple tapes showing different colours.

Basing this advert around. the 80's to the 90's, I did some research on old films in this era and I saw these colours in them. I believed some tapes featuring my uncle may look like these colours but its just an estimate.
