The festival was about 20 minutes away from the terminal. So it was easy to find.

Since it was a flower festival, I was able to enjoy nature as well. What's amazing is that they were selling a wide variety of local food. There was also a place where people could sample han-woo (korean beef?), for free!! And I didn't see it, but there were performances by singers and fireworks.

But highlight of this festival is that can see many flowers that I can't see in the city.

And this festival is kind to families with children. There are places like amusement parks for children. So I would like to recommend this festival as a resting place for families with children. I want to come with my younger sister.

The first discussion explained the current state of the government's policy on people with disabilities. The second, fourth, and fifth discussions included an explanation of the actual working environment of the disabled. The third discussion attempted to present a new model that is different from the previous working environment for the disabled.

There was a common argument that people with disabilities should be able to live on their own in society.

I think that in order to become such a society, we need to eliminate the minimum wage discrimination in our society. The fact that there is minimum wage(최저임금) discrimination is what I learned by participating in this session. This policy really only considered efficiency and never considered people with severe disabilities who would live on a small amount of money. It is not right to rely on policy. But at least there should be no discrimination in policy.

The session I heard at WHRCF was about disability.

At first, I started by introducing the session of KANG-Minhui, a professor at Honam University and the chairperson of this session. She said that she would deal with a paradigm shift for work, along with the issue of disabled people and employment for them, who are socially vulnerable.

Albin Falconer, who is affiliated with SAMHALL, Sweden's largest employment company for the disabled, introduced the operation of his company SAMHALL. He explained the company's five success factors, along with what beliefs SAMHALL operates with.

Next was a presentation by Cho-Yunhwa from the Independent Research Team of the Korea Disabled Development Institute. She explained the employment status of the disabled. In addition to explaining the structure of income security for the disabled in Korea, the problem of the current income security system in Korea was explained, and Korea had various problems just as the poverty rate gap between the disabled and the non-disabled continues.

Next, we moved on to the discussion.

Kwon-Hesuk, a senior expert at the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, introduced the current state of Korea's employment policy for the disabled. Korea's employment policy for the disabled began in 1990 with the introduction of the employment obligation system for the disabled, and introduced various projects carried out for the disabled in her industrial complex.

Yeom-Jiae, Policy Planning Team Leader at the Kwangju Metropolitan City Support Center for the Disabled, explained about the working conditions for disabled people, who said that disabled people in Korea are currently working for less than the minimum wage, and that disabled people want to work in other fields as well as simply social needs.

Next came Woo-jonggyu, a member of the Association of Right-based Public Jobs for the Disabled (ARPJD). Prior to that, he presented a new job value model for the severely handicapped following the presentation of the team leader Yeom-jiae, and at the same time presented a new perspective on the labor of the disabled in the present society.

Next, Amkor Korea staff Kim-Mokwon and workers Jo-Eunhye at the Yudal Center for Independent Living presented what they felt while working in various environments as disabled people.

I was worried. Because I didn’t have this kind of experience. But it was interesting. Specially, it was fun to hear about ‘SAMHALL’. Korea and Sweden have many differences. All the same, there is a lot to learn from the ‘SAMHALL’. (for example, ability test for disabled.)

It was also new to hear about my experience as a worker from the perspective of the disabled. My head knew that a disabled person should not be viewed as an object to help unconditionally, but it felt different to hear it from the mouth of a worker working in the field. And it was very surprising that our government is currently implementing a policy that allows people with disabilities to pay less than the minimum wage. Through this session, I learned that the working environment of the disabled is this poor, and I was able to learn a lot through this program. It is certain that the working environment of the disabled should be improved in Korea, and even the disabled will need the best support to do what they want to do.
