         <description><![CDATA[<p>No voluntary control of body during its early weeks of life </p><p>Communicate via crying</p><p>Cognitive and perceptual abilities are present</p><p>Eyesight is not fully developed</p><p>Normal Body temperature ranges from 96°F–99°F (35.6°C–37.2°C) </p><p>Has reflexes called Rooting reflex, motor (startle) reflex, grasping reflex, stepping reflex, tonic neck reflex, and the plantar reflex.  </p><p>Sleep to 17-19 hours per day </p><p>Trust begins to develop in this newborn to one month old stage</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Motor and voluntary skills increase</p><p>holds eye contact, smiles, imitates their parents.</p><p>Cooing and Babbling begin between these stages</p><p>Reflexes slowly disappear and become more developed</p><p>Tummy-time is recommended to build and strengthen muscles.</p><p>Rolling over begins at these stages and by the end can roll over with ease.</p><p>sitting up also improves at the end of four months.</p><p>object permanence slowly starts developing</p><p>distinguishes parents faces and voices when the 5 senses hit.</p><p>can localize sound by turning or looking</p><p>starts cooing with vowels (a,e,i,o,u) but in baby gibberish</p><p>cries less often and can start entertaining itself by smacking toys or grasping.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <title>Four to Eight months old</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Begins to slowly develop teeth and will enter a teething stage where gums are swollen causing discomfort.</p><p>True eye color is established between these month stages.</p><p>Reflexive behaviors change and develops a parachute reflex towards the end of 8months where arms and legs are in a protective stance.</p><p>Now reaches for items with both hands and slowly starts learning how to use one. </p><p>Starts being able to sit up alone without any help. </p><p>Infant begins to crawl.</p><p>Develops the pincer grip where they pick up things with their finger and thumb.</p><p>Imitates actions more better.</p><p>Death perception is evident during these stages and becomes fearful.</p><p>Puts everything and anything into their mouth.</p><p>Imitates non-speech</p><p>Starts repeating the same syllables.</p><p>During these stages the infant is friendly until stranger anxiety develops at the end.</p><p>Starts reacting differently to noises. </p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <title>Eight to Twelve months old</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Infants begin walking and talking between these months.</p><p>Can stack, and manipulate objects.</p><p>Infants start creeping which leads to walking later on.</p><p>Infants pay more attention to their surroundings as well as objects and people.</p><p>Begins to understand words more and follow simple instructions.</p><p>Shows awareness of functional items.</p><p>Starts Blabbering and can say "yes" or "no".</p><p>Recognize their names and turn when they are called.</p><p>Stranger anxiety is still a big role during these months.</p><p>Begins to want more adult attention and will cry or fuss when alone.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Twelve to Twenty-Four Months old</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Growth slows down.</p><p>Begins to grow more teeth and can now have 6-10 new teeth.</p><p>Begins to walk unassisted by the age of 2 years.</p><p>Starts running when getting the hang of walking but have trouble stopping.</p><p>By the time they reach age 2 they want to be more independent.</p><p>Can hold cups and other utensils on their own.</p><p>Starts demonstrating understanding of functional relationships.</p><p>Starts naming objects.</p><p>During this stage they also use holophrastic speech and telegraphic speech which is where they utter one or two word phrases for things.</p><p>Can identify body parts. <em>ex, eyes,nose,ears.</em></p><p>Grows more curious about their surroundings.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Teeth are nearly all formed, has 20 decidous teeth.</p><p>Walking and running greatly improve by age two.</p><p>Potty training starts at this age. </p><p>Can hold cups with both hands and can unzip and zip buttons.</p><p>Can follow simple instructions and directions. <em>ex:"bring me your shoes","can you put this in your toy box?"</em>.</p><p>Likes putting objects together as well as stacking.</p><p>Two year old's have short attention spans but can be engrossed for periods of time.</p><p>Starts recognizing familiar names and places.</p><p>Vocabulary during this stage increases.</p><p>Starts understanding language more and can communicate their wants and needs effectively.</p><p>Learns by watching and imitating others.</p><p>Children at this age are more bossy and impatient. </p><p>Eager to learn and help with certain tasks.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>
