Yes, we are satisfied with the ending. Starting off with Bruno, as the saying goes: curiosity kills the cat. In this scenario, Bruno acts as the cat and his hobby of exploring shows his curiosity which gets him killed in the end. Moving onto Father, we think Father deserved the ending he got as he should also feel the suffering he brought to the Jews for himself. He should learn that his actions have a way of affecting others (Bruno getting killed). And feel the pain he brought to the Jew’s families (broke them up as well).

• If we could change the ending, we would change it so that Father realises that Bruno is inside the gas chamber and manages to save Bruno in time. After, Bruno insists that Shmuel should be a part of his family and they all return to Berlin safely.

Yes because it shows how the family change between the chapters and how they learn that you only miss someone when they are gone.

We would make Bruno’s father see Bruno going to the gas chamber , he would try to tell the other soldiers that Bruno was inside but the others did not hear him so he will try to open it but he also inhales the gas and dies. This will show that he really cares for his son and would do anything to save him even if it meant dying.

Answer to Q2:Kind of like the movie, a family member finds Bruno’s clothes but this time, it is father who finds the clothes.He then rushes in like the soldier’s in the movie, but he sees a glimpse of Bruno’s face as the door closes but is too late to save Bruno.He then watches the whole process of the gas chamber and can do nothing as his son perishes.Finally, before getting incinerated, he sees Bruno’s lifeless body and drops to his knees.He then takes his handgun and commits suicide as the rest of his family watches and they realise something bad happened to Bruno.

Bruno’s father suffers a tragic loss when his son dies in the gas chamber. Because he was in charge of the camp and responsible for the terrible cruelty happening there, many see this as a form of justice. His strict loyalty to the Nazi and his role in the suffering of many people indirectly lead to his own son’s death. In this way, the Commandant gets what he deserves—losing something precious because of the harm he caused others. It shows how his actions brought about serious consequences, even to himself.
