Limited government is displayed in the legislative branch when bill that the legislative branch tries to pass are vetoed, or shot down, by the president. Limited government is also shown in the Constitution, which explicitly designates certain powers to the legislative branch (approving and rejecting presidential nominees, declaring war, approving currency, etc). Limited government is necessary so that each governing body can have autonomy, tyranny is not created, and the people keep their voice in the government.

An example of limited government in congress would be that that congress cannot pass laws without the consent of the judicial branch. Limited government is needed because if the government can do whatever it wants then they would be able to raise taxes by an extraordinary amount, make us work for minimum wage or go to the army. Basically they could do whatever they wanted but since we have a limited government there are laws set in place that makes sure everyone is held in check and if they don’t stay in check and break the law then they can be taken to jail.

CC - The idea of limited government can be applied to the legislative branch because this branch does not have complete power. The idea of a limited government is necessary in a democratic government because powers are delegated or distributed so that one leader or group of leaders does not have too much influence or power.

The branches could have way too much power if not limited, it balances power. If a democratic House of Rep. wanted to pass a bill, and they passed it, no one else would have a say. It allows for the ability of a corrupt government with no regulations
