A brief summary of what I have learned:

1. Islam

- asked the Prophet about Islam, to which he responded by describing the five pillars of Islam:

• Shahada: Testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger.

• Salah: Establishing the five daily prayers.

• Zakat: Giving alms or charity to the needy.

• Sawm: Fasting during the month of Ramadan.

• Hajj: Performing the pilgrimage to Mecca for those who are able.

These pillars represent the external, practical acts of worship in Islam.

2. Iman

   -When Jibril asked about Iman (faith), the Prophet described the six articles of faith:

   1. Belief in Allah.

   2. Belief in His angels.

   3. Belief in His books

   4. Belief in His messengers

   5. Belief in the Day of Judgment.

   6. Belief in Qadr

   These articles reflect the inner, spiritual beliefs of a Muslim.

3. Ehsan

   
   

   - Jibril asked about Ehsan, which is the highest level of faith. The Prophet replied:

   
   

   “It is to worship Allah as if you see Him, for even if you do not see Him, He sees you.”

   
   

   This describes an attitude of sincerity and excellence in worship, where a person acts with complete awareness of Allah’s presence.

4. Day of judgement

   -When Jibril asked about the Day of Judgment, the Prophet said:

   
   

   “The one being questioned knows no more than the questioner.”

   
   

   This emphasizes that the exact timing of the Day of Judgment is known only to Allah.

Qiyamah. We talked about the minor and major signs of Qiyamah and also the relationship between Ehsan and Qiyamah.

1. Minor signs;

   • Construction of tall buildings: Competing to build tall buildings worldwide

   • Time will pass quickly: hours will feel like minutes and months would feel like days.

2. Major signs;

   • Appearance of Dajjal: The great deceiver will come and test the faith of islam.

   • The return of prophet Isa: To lead islam to victory against Dajjal.

Here is a brief summary on what we discussed;

1. Faith towards Allah

   • Rububiah: Believes Allah is the sole governor of the universe.

   • Uluhiyah: Believes Allah is the only one we prayed to.

   • Asma wa sifat: Believes in the names of Allah.

     
     

2. Faith in angels

   • Purpose of Angels: Teaches us the system of organisations, shows the powers of Allah the almighty.

3. Faith in the kitab

   • Devine letter from Allah to his creations, through his messengers. Such as prophet Muhammad with Al-Quran.

   • Jibril is the middleman to send Quran to prophet Muhammad S.A.W.

   • Qada’ is excecution and Qadar is fate

   • Our fate are written even before we were born but it can be change for the better or worse .

1. Good intentions; Be sure your actions are motivated by pure intentions

2. Respect towards teachers ; Give teachers your full attention towards their teaching and complete the works given from them.

3. Patience ; Be patient in your pursue to seek knowledge and work hard. Be precise and focused in your studies.

In conclusion, as students we need Adab to seek knowledge to gain Allah’s pleasure and rahmat.

Here are a brief summary of what I jotted down in points.

1. Adab towards parents:

   Be respectful: Call them by respectful titles, speak quietly, and listen attentively. 

   Be patient: Serve them and communicate with them to the best of your ability. 

   Be considerate: Anticipate how you can make their life easier, especially when they are older. 

   Be helpful: Offer to help them with tasks, and help them feel comfortable. 

   Be grateful: Make du'a for them, and praise their efforts. 

   Be humble: Lower your voice and avoid showing displeasure. 

   Be obedient: Follow their instructions and fulfill their wishes. 

   
   

2. Adab towards neighbours:

   Helpfulness ; Help them if they ask. Visit them when they are sick or sad. Attend their funerals and help with burial arrangements

   Respect ;Respect their privacy and don't spy on them. Forgive them if they do something wrong

I hope I will implement everything I have learned during this usrah and be a better Muslim.

I recommend for the next usrah to focus more on ibadah that can put us closer to Allah.

This week we discussed the topic of Hikmah. Specifically ways to acquire hikmah and the term niyyah.

Hikmah

Definition

To do what needs to be done. Ability to act appropriately using knowledge, experience, understanding and common sense.

Reaching the truth and action.

The proper use of knowledge- not just learning theory but application of the knowledge too.

Not everyone who has knowledge has hikmah.

Exp; smart but don’t have manners towards others.

Ways to acquire hikmah

1. Read the Quran with concentration contemplation- words of the creator. -learn from the story of wise people that Allah mentioned.

2. Be in the company of wise people -importance of choosing circle of friends.

3. Obedience to Allah- Al-Qasas (28:14).

4. Have lots of life experience

- challenges will give us wisdom to not fall into the same mistake.

5. Being humble

- not afraid to consult with people

- An arrogant person will not acquire wisdom

6. Silence

- Only talk when there is a need to talk.

- A wise person will think before speak.

7. Beg Allah for the wisdom.

- Allah grants wisdom to the people of his choice

8. Set your niyyah.

Niyyah

In Islam, the term ni

- Helps distinguish acts of worship and acts that are performed for the sake of others.

- Deeds performed without niyyah might not be accepted by Allah.

How to know if we set a right niyyah

1. Sincerity

- Solely for the sake of Allah.

- Free from any bad motives.

2. Clarity

- Be clear of what needs to be done and why.

3. Consistency

- The intention remains consistent throughout the act.

This week we explore The hikmah that we get from our daily ibadah such as performing Salah, Fasting,Zakah and Hajj .

Salah

1. Prayer will purify our heart-Building fear of Allah.

2. Prayer will keep one away from obscenity and wickedness.

3. Prayer involves remembering allah , verbally and physically- the best kind of worship.

Fasting

1. Trains oneself to remember allah is always watching.

2. Weakens syaitan’s influence and reduce sins.

3. Helping rich man feel pain of hunger, making him inclined to help the poor and needy- be more grateful for his blessings.

4. Will most likely do many acts of worship during fasting - because Ramadan is a spiritual bootcamp and syaitan isn’t allowed to be in it.

Zakah

1. A bridge between spiritual and the material, indicating that wealth is a trust from Allah to be used wisely.

2. Create a spirit of empathy, solidarity and cooperation among Muslims.

3. Alleviate poverty and reduce economical gap within ummah.

4. Promoting self sufficiency for the recipients- breaking the cycle of poverty.

5. Cleans one’s wealth- removing any potential harm it might cause to the individual and society.

6. Free from material attachments and selfishness- gratitude and reliance on Allah.

7. Encourage personal spiritual growth- demonstrates obedience to Allah.

Hajj

1. Combines both physical and financial expenditure- once in a lifetime.

2. Achieving compassion and love among Muslims despite differences- unity.

3. Declaring the oneness of Allah. -“labbayka allahumma labbayk…. “

4. Equals to jihad for the unable to observe jihad.  ….

5. Purifies one from sins- starting fresh, like a newborn.

6. Prepare one for the judgement day.

7. Restraining one self from greed , temper and other unlimited desires.

This week we learned the preparation of Salah to attain Khusyuk while praying.

Wuduk

Preparation: Wudu (Ablution

1. Saying Bismillah at the beginning

Khusyuk

How to attain khusyuk?

1. Understand what you are reciting (learn meanings of Surah Al-Fatihah, tasbihs, etc.)

2. Prepare early – do wudu calmly, wear clean clothes

3. Pray on time – don’t rush

4. Remove distractions (noise, phones, hunger)

5. Pray slowly and calmly

6. Imagine it’s your last prayer

7. Focus your gaze on sujud spot

8. Make sincere du’a after salah

This week we discussed the virtues of Ramadhan and fasting taken from surah al-Baqarah.

2:183

1. Allah enjoins us to fast just as he enjoined the previous nation.

2. Because fasting beneficial for people of all, not just the previous nation- physically,spiritually, socially.

3. Develop piety:

• obeying the command of Allah and avoiding what he has forbidden.

• Give up his desires because he remembers that Allah is always watching.

• Fasting narrows the pathway of shaytan.

• Does many acts of worship.

• Feels the pain of hunger.

2:184 al baqarah

1. Fasting is only for a specific number of days- very easy.

2. If any hardship occurs, he allows the people to break the fast - need to make up fast on another day.

3. In the beginning, one can choose to fast or feed the needy- because they were not used to it.

4. For those who find fasting unbearably difficult ,  can feed the needy for each day  …

Who should not fast during Ramadan?

1. people with severe health conditions.(physical and mental)

2. Pregnant and breastfeeding women.

3. Elderly individuals- unable to regain strength even after eating.

4. Children below puberty.

5. Menstruating women.

6. People who are travelling - for good purpose.

How to replace

1. Complete the incomplete days anytime outside of Ramadan.

2. Pay fidyah- a fine imposed towards a person for certain reasons…..

1. The fasting month is the same month in which Allah bestowed yoo us the holy Quran-17 Ramadan.

2. Contains guidance in both religious and worldly affairs, distinguishes between truth and falsehood.

3. Obligatory for those who are able, healthy and not travelling.

4. His intention to ease the path on attaining his pleasure.

5. Fasting will only be complete if one fulfills..

Speacial features of Ramadan

1. laylat al-Qadr

• Better than a thousand month.

Sadaqah “Shortcut To Jannah”.

In the poster we explained the meaning of Sadaqah, the benefits, the types and its ruling. We also add a Hadith on Sadaqah and Sadaqah in the daily lives.

This week, we discussed on how Salah with Khushu (deep focus and humility) instills key spiritual virtues or values.

1. Al-Ṭaah (Submission/Loyalty to Allah)

Just like Luqmān began with the importance of shukr (gratitude) to Allah, prayer with khushūʿ teaches us to be loyal and submissive to our Creator. Every act of sincere Ṣalāh reflects our acceptance of Allah’s authority and our commitment to obey His command with humility and trust.

2. Al-Jihad(Struggle in the Path of Allah)

Luqmān advises his son to be steadfast in establishing prayer and patient with what befalls him (verse 17). This mirrors the internal jihād we face during prayer like the struggle to concentrate, to show up consistently, and to remain spiritually connected in our daily life. True khushūʿ is earned through perseverance.

3. Muhasabah (Self-Reflection & Accountability)

Through his wise words, Luqmān teaches his son to recognize that “even an atom’s weight of deed will be brought forth” (verse 16). Similarly, in prayer with khushūʿ, we engage in quiet reflection, evaluating our intentions and actions. This self-accountability shapes us to be mindful, honest, and sincere.

4. Iffah (Modesty & Self-Restraint)

Luqmān warns against arrogance and walking with pride (verse 18). This relates to the modesty that comes with sincere prayer such when we recognize our position before Allah, we become more cautious, refined, and self-restrained in our behavior. True khushūʿ helps guard our tongue, eyes, and heart from sin.

5. Tawaddu (Humility & Humbleness)

Luqmān tells his son to “walk humbly and lower your voice” (verse 19). This advice echoes the core of khushūʿ as to approach worship with brokenness, not arrogance. Each sujūd reminds us: we are low, and Allah is Most High. Humility is the soul of prayer and the sign of a heart connected to its Lord.

Hikmah (Wisdom):

Sūrah Luqmān beautifully complements the lessons of Ṣalāh with khushūʿ. From gratitude and patience to humility and accountability, it emphasizes the values that prayer is meant to grow within us. These verses remind us that every act of worship especially Ṣalāh is not just an obligation, but a path to deep personal transformation and closeness to Allah.
