Naomi is a 15 year old girl. Naomi’s family moved to different places every year due to her dad’s job. She struggled to fit in and find friends because of it. But things changed when she moved to a new town. Naomi met Claire and they instantly became best friends. It wasn't long after until she officially became part of Claire's inner circle. But things got worse the more Naomi got to know Claire's friends.

The story's main character is Bakar, his name from the Basque word bakarrik, which means alone, is a tree. He is a great bristlecone pine tree, one of the oldest living trees and organisms left here on earth. Having lived almost 5,000 years Bakar has seen the ups and downs of our world, he has grown throughout time and witnessed nations rise as well as fall, experienced horrendous weather and seen the colors of the wind change. Yet he has survived though he is alone.
