I just graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology. I have a background in coaching high school baseball for the past 4 years. I wanted to go into a teaching position with a great beginning teacher support program and baseball program. I spoke to Broughton High at a Career Fair and I am excited to start.

I graduated in the spring from UNCG with a BFA in theatre education, and was looking for a place to start what I hope to be a fruitful and passionate career as a high school theatre educator! I've known for a long time that this is what I've wanted to do and I'm beyond thrilled to start at a school with such a wonderful reputation and arts community.

I planned on retiring and moved to Raleigh. Mr. Hatch told me he needed me to work here so I came out of retirement and joined the best school in Wake County. 'Sko CAPS!!!

I will be student teaching at Broughton this year. I taught English at Apex Friendship High School for two years, but stepped away from teaching to pursue a job in the museum field. I missed being in the classroom, and am now in a program to complete my licensure requirements and return to teaching. I'm so excited and grateful to be here! -Reagan Petty

After 10 years at the same urban middle school, I wanted to see something new. I made the jump to a suburban high school and Loved it!! Living in the city, I felt somewhat disconnected from my students...which lead me to look for a place closer to home. That led me to Broughton.

I grew up in Raleigh and attended WCPSS schools. I went to Meredith College for undergrad. I received a BA in History and a secondary education teaching license. I went to NCSU for graduate school and received an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. After taking a year off teaching I decided to head back. While my last school was private, my heart has always been in the public school system. I currently live in Raleigh and my oldest son attends Wiley Elementary next door!

I have just moved from Ireland, where I was teacher for 9 years.

I graduated from Maynooth University of Ireland with a BSc in Math and Biology Education. I moved to Raleigh last November and am delighted to be teaching math here at Broughton.

Jésica Romina Suárez ¡Buenos días! I’m originally from Argentina so my journey started there. I am an EFL and Spanish teacher. I’m a former Participate Learning teacher and I moved to NC back in 2019. I worked at South Garner HS, moved to Charlotte area for the 2024-2025 school year and I’m really excited about coming back to WCPSS and having the privilege of joining the Caps family! ☺️

My family and I relocated to NC because our only son attends college here. I was a school counselor in FL for over 12 years. I also worked as a counselor in NYC and Venezuela. I earned my master’s degree in counseling from NYU.

After a year away from teaching CTE-FCS, I have the privilege to do what I love to do! This is my 8th year teaching and my 10th year working in education. I’m most looking forward to connecting with my students, encouraging them and teaching them life skills. I am passionate about equitable learning practices and equipping students with social-emotional skills.

I am starting my 23rd year as a school librarian. My former career was in broadcast news as a video editor with NBC17 in Raleigh.

After a few years in Johnston County, I moved to WCPSS to open Wendell MS in 2006. Our library program grew there for 16 years. I decided to try out high school libraries, moving to Middle Creek HS. After four years, Ms Trowell reached out for a partnership, so I jumped on the opportunity quickly. I'm excited for our partnership and my new library adventures at BHS!
