Bethany has co-authored several science and educational publications, and been an invited speaker at both regional and international science and educational conferences.  Bethany has also participated in several oceanographic research expeditions, and in 2013 was selected as a Science Communications Fellow with Dr. Robert Ballard’s Ocean Exploration Trust. In July 2013, Bethany spent 2 weeks aboard Dr. Ballard’s Exploration Vessel Nautilus exploring and documenting 17th century shipwrecks in the Gulf of Mexico.  Bethany also serves as an adjunct oceanography instructor for Rappahannock Community College, and as Co-coordinator for the Marine Science Legacy Program, the community education and outreach arm of the Urbanna Oyster Festival.  Bethany’s passions in education and outreach focus on effective science communication strategies for students, educators and scientists, as well providing students with tangible, real-world, inter-disciplinary extensions.

During his career, he has been involved in the development of a curation strategy for the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in conjunction with the Department of Energy and also led an effort to preserve the Apollo One spacecraft that was involved in the 1967 fire that took the lives of astronauts Virgil I. Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffe. Alberg also served as the U.S. government representative on the 2010 joint expedition to the shipwreck of RMS Titanic. Preserving our nation’s history has always been a passion for Mr. Alberg. Mr. Alberg holds a bachelor’s degree in museum studies from George Mason University and a master’s degree in museum education from the College of William and Mary. In 2017, Alberg was appointed as a Board Member of the Maryland Historical Trust by Maryland Governor Larry J. Hogan. Mr. Alberg served 21 years in the United States Navy Reserve.
