         <description><![CDATA[<div>Discuss what a mouse is and how to use one. Explain that some have wires and others don't. There are two buttons, a left and a right. Link the mouse to the mousepad on the laptop. They do the same job. The left-click function will open a program and close a program. Now open the Paint app.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Building on prior learning, now open Paint or a similar app and draw a picture using the dragging of the mouse to draw lines and the left-click to select new shapes and colours. Ask children to draw a person with a circular head, rectangular body and five arms and six legs. Then ask them to fill each of these in with a different colour. Compare drawings. Nothing has been done yet with the right-click.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Discuss what a keyboard is and how they are not all the same. Show some pictures of different keyboards (wireless, wired,  tablet keyboard etc.). Explain that you can use a keyboard to type a word. <br>Show chn how to write their name using the keys in lowercase. <br>What do we know about names? They need a capital letter, how do we do a capital letter on a keyboard? How would we add a space between first and surname? Chn then label their portrait with the correct words e.g. hair, eyes, nose etc. <br>Ask chn what they are doing when they are labeling their drawing. Chn to have laminated keyboard, talk about what they can see/notice - do they know what some of the keys do? Play a game to start recognising keys on the board. Chn to work in pairs and challenge each other to find keys quickly on the keyboard.<br>Introduce the mouse (forward plan what you are going to use - laptop/iPad, I would probably start with iPad for touch screen purposes, so focus on keyboard and then move onto mouse later)</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Model to the chn how you can edit a textbox. How to use the backspace key or delete key. Do they have to delete the whole word if there is an error at the beginning? How can they avoid doing this?<br>Model these different strategies. <br>Show chn a portrait that has been drawn by you, the teacher. Explain that something has gone wrong when you were labelling your portrait and you have spelt some words wrong and you have forgotten to do some things (e.g. capital letters for names, spaces between words).<br><br>Ask chn to help you correct the mistakes that you have made giving chn opportunity to edit the text using the keyboard.<br><br>Liam<br><br></div>]]></description>
