I attended the class, Writing as a Road to Comprehension through Amplify. It focused on foundational sentence-level writing instruction as well as sharing how to strengthen comprehension by explicitly linking reading, writing, speaking, and thinking together through our content areas. I am looking forward to seeing the updated writing connections in our 3rd edition of Core Knowledge. I have always been passionate about handwriting and writing a great sentence. Writing great sentences involves reading, speaking, and thinking together. It involves I do, We do, and You do. It involves talking and modeling through who, what, when, where, and why. I am also highly interested in taking the SRSD training. As a staff, we did have these conversations with Alexis at a staff meeting last year. It seemed like it could be a possibility for our school. I hope it comes to fruition.

I want to take this information to help analyze pieces of our intervention systems- specifically regarding when each approach may/may not be appropriate based on individual student needs. We have to use our tools and knowledge of each approach to determine what will be most effective for the situation.
