In the meantime, we will be starting the half term with a slight change to our expectations for reading at home. We would like all of the children to try and read at least one book from the school reading scheme each week (the teaching staff will keep a record of the books that each child reads at home) and we are also going to launch Book Bingo, as a fun reading challenge for the children to try to complete during the Autumn Term. All children completing the challenge will receive 5 Dojo points and a certificate from their class teacher. Your child will bring home a Book Bingo sheet. Happy Reading!

Please note that, as it will be dark by the time we return, children will not be allowed to walk home alone and must be collected by an adult. If they are to be collected by an adult who is not their parent/carer (e.g. a friend's parent), please make sure that you have let your child's class teacher know before the day of the trip. We are not able to send children home with different adults unless we have their parent or carer's specific permission. Thank you for your help with this.

• Pupils need to be at school at 7:15am. Please make sure that they have had breakfast and been to the toilet before they arrive. Coaches will leave at 7:30a.m.

• All children will need a packed lunch and a drink as well as a waterproof coat. They will be carrying their own bag all day so it would be a good idea to put lunches in a disposable bag rather than a bulky lunchbox. Water fountains are available at the Tower to refill bottles if needed.

• Children must not bring mobile phones, cameras or smart watches, in line with our normal school policies, due to safeguarding risks as well as the risk of valuables going missing.

• Full school uniform needs to be worn throughout the trip.

• Please ensure any children who need travel sickness medication have been given it before they arrive at school and that the tablet for the return journey is given to a staff member with a completed medication consent form on arrival at school.

• As mentioned in Thursday’s Padlet post, all children need to be collected from school by an adult and, if this is not going to be the child’s parent or carer, please let their class teacher know as soon as possible.

Some of the children in Year 6 have been working hard today testing the maths tests of the future. The National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) is doing this work for the Standards and Testing Agency (STA), which is part of the Department for Education. Each year, the STA asks a sample of schools to trial potential future SATs tests with a representative sample of pupils and schools across the country. The children and school will not receive the results of these tests as the purpose is to test the tests and not the children. All of this has been explained to the children who have taken part today and we just want to say that we have really appreciated the effort they have put in to helping the Department for Education and Year 6 pupils in the future.  Well done, Year 6!

As published in the newsletter and on the school calendar, the Year 6 leavers' production will be held on Tues 14th and Wed 15th July at 6pm. We have scheduled 2 performances to enable as many families as possible to come and share this experience. Children will need to be available to perform on both evening. Details about timings and tickets will follow shortly.

Year 6 Leaver's Assembly:

We will be holding a short assembly at 11:30a.m. on Friday 17th July as a final celebration and farewell to Year 6. We would love it if families could join us and there will then be the opportunity to take photos and say farewell as a year group on the playground before moving to the field where the whole school will be holding a picnic (more details to follow).

Bags for books- please send sturdy carrier bags in tomorrow if you haven’t already done this so that children can bring their books home over the next couple of days.

Hoodies - whilst the children are allowed to wear leavers’ hoodies to school this week, it is going to be hot so please make sure they have their school t-shirt underneath so they can take the hoodie off as the heat increases.

Shirt signing - some of the children have asked if they can bring white shirts in for teachers and pupils to sign. This can be done from Wednesday onwards but they should bring the shirt in a bag rather than wear it as the pens have a tendency to go through to the children’s skin otherwise.

Fun Day - our fun day takes place during the school day on Thursday. Children do not need to bring lunch as we will be providing a BBQ and ice creams. This is a non-school uniform day but please make sure that clothes are suitable for playing outside etc.

Production - our year 6 production will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings this week. We will start at 6pm on Tuesday so please could children arrive at school between 5:30-5:45pm so that we can make sure they are changed and ready to perform at 6? The running time is approximately 1 hour and 15mins. We may move the time of Wednesday’s production slightly earlier as many families will want to get home in time for the football and we will confirm these timings tomorrow. If you have not already returned your ticket slip, please do so by tomorrow at the latest to guarantee tickets being available for your family.

Leaver’s assembly - on Friday, we will hold a leaver’s assembly at 11:30am in the school hall. Parents and family members are welcome to join us and, after the assembly, year 6 will gather on the playground for final photos etc before being invited to join the rest of the school on the field for a picnic if they wish. If parents/carers wish to take their children home early, please ensure that the class teacher is aware and please note that children will only be allowed to go with their own parents/carers unless the school has been notified of alternative collection arrangements in writing. Children will not be able to leave school early without an adult.
