This was a threat to many nations especially countries like the U.S. So the U.S. created strategies that would help countries' governments from the subversion of communist called The Truman Doctrine. The U.S. also created a Marshall Plan, that helped in financially giving countries assistance in cases that their democratic government was being taken over by communists. After WWII, The Soviet Union, who was now seen as a super power, was trying to find a way into getting a communist government to rule Europe, in order to benefit Russia and aiding countries, as well as push back western ideals. While this was happening, the rest of the united nations were opposing the idea and it eventually became a conflict in their communication. The wests’ ideals were to simply aid other countries in order to avoid repeating the story of post WWI, this simply leading to the conflict of both superpowers helping them, each tried to spread their dominance faster, even going to lengths of expanding military force.

The United States wanted to prevent communism from spreading and promote democracy as well as American ideals. In order to prevent the rise of communism, the US focused their efforts on containing the Soviet Union’s need for expansion. In addition to this, the US wanted to help reconstruct Europe so that Europe’s economy could be restored. They did this by giving out money to help with reconstruction as well as sponsor various conferences, such as the Bretton Woods Conference, in order to reinstate stability and ensure economic order. On the other hand, the Soviet Union wished to expand its dominion and spread its own ideals of communism while also protecting the Russian core of the Union. They did this by adopting the strategy of defensive expansion due to their exposed land.

The Soviet Union started expanding its communist rule to nations like Czechoslovakia and Germany using military force. The clash climaxed when both countries threatened each other with nuclear weapons.
