Another one is when he kills William, Victor's brother, out of his hatred for Victor.

"As soon as I heard the name, I became angry. 'Frankenstein!' I cried. 'You belong to him? I promised myself I would get even with Frankenstein. And I will start with you!' The child began to scream even more. I tried to quiet him. I grabbed his throat. But I am so strong, and the child was so small ... in a moment, he was dead." (Shelley 49)

"Slowly, I began to learn words. My first words

were fire, milk, bread, and wood. He explained to Victor that the reason he would do bad things was because he was alone and hated by everyone. This shows the way he was treated (nurture) made him act the way he did

The characters that were involved in this were the creature and Victor Frankenstein. In this the creature learns that being isolated and rejected has deeply affected him. He also realizes that his actions are a response to how he has been treated by others. Victor in this starts to understand the consequences of his actions and how neglecting and not providing care for the creature has led to all these horrible outcomes.

"I am malicious because I am miserable.

The idea of isolation is seen when Victor Frankenstein separates himself from everyone and everything due to the overwhelming guilt of Justine's execution over William's murder.

The character involved in this isolation is Victor Frankenstein. The lesson Frankenstein learns is that this is not a good form of punishment or redemption for himself because it would ultimately lead to a miserable, lonely life, all the while he would become sick from the lack of care for his health and wellbeing.

"These sublime and magnificent scenes afforded me the greatest consolation that I was capable of receiving. They elevated me from all littleness of feeling, and although they did not remove my grief, they subdued and tranquilized it. In some degree, also, they diverted my mind from the thoughts over which it had brooded for the last month" (Shelley 92). This quote shows the readers just how much of an impact isolation had on Frankenstein, and it explained how it was not the best decision for himself when it came to his mental health.

The author reveals this theme through dialogue, the mood/tone, and the setting. This is seen throughout these chapters as Frankenstein talks about his trauma and his experiences with isolation, as well as through how the novel goes on to describe his surroundings and how it made him feel.

Christina Boyles

Isolation is shown in many different ways in the novel. One way was when the family in the cottage left after they met the monster. He was abandoned once again and had no one.

The monster learned that No human would want him; he was alone just because he resembles a monster.

When Frankenstein was talking to the creature the creature said "I am malicious because I am miserable. Am I not shunned and hated by all mankind"(Shelley 147). This shows how sad the creature was and how no one was.

Shelley shows this theme of Isolation with dialogue between the creature and the monster. The creature is saying how he is lonely because he looks like a monster.

Makayla Fierro

The monster is motivated by a desire to understand the human world. He is alone and innocent, but Victor rejects him once he awakens, causing him to seek shelter and learn how to survive.

His actions lead him into the forest forcing him how to survive on his own and learn from the De Lacey's by watching over them about basic human nature. However, during this time, he was rejected more and more by society and then eventually rejected by the De Lacey's causing sadness to anger, and vengeance towards Victor.

"I could hardly believe that so great a good fortune could have befallen me, but when I became assured that my enemy had indeed fled, I clapped my hands for joy and ran down to Clerval"(Shelley 52).

"Nothing in human shape could have destroyed that fair child. He was the murder! I could not doubt"(Shelley 70).

Overall, the novel is saying that we judge a book by its cover. We tend to focus on what is on the outside rather than realize what's important on the inside. Also, everyone is born innocent, however, we develop ourselves into becoming who we are by being on the wrong path or how we are being raised. We are not born as monsters but our decisions and the way we react to society's actions can lead us to becoming one.

Hannah Mejia

1) In these chapters, it helps us understand the feelings that Frankenstein had to victor. He showed resentment, agony, and revenge. And in these feelings he asked for a partner, because of the rejection victor gave him. He was craving for the love and connection a partner would give him.

2) Victor, Frankenstein, and Elizabeth. Victor was learning the consequences for his terrible actions. Frankenstein was learning that a sentient being must have a connection, especially in situations where all he knew was abandonment and rejection. Elizabeth was learning but she was used as a blackmail because victor didn't want to give Frankenstein a mate.

3) in chapter 17 it says, ¨ am I not shunned and hated by all mankind? you, my creator, would tear me to pieces and triumph...¨

4) The author shows conflict, characterization, and dialogue. He shows the conflict between creator and creation. The disagreement they are having because Frankenstein feels entitled to having a partner because he didnt ask to be brought in the world, and now he must suffer alone. He also shows characterization, frankenstein is there to bargain. A so called ¨Monster¨ who bargain showed us emotional intelligence we maybe didnt think he had. He also had them going back and fourth using dialogue. Showing a conversation, asking questions.

Ulavai Fetuli

1. We see the idea of Isolation in Chapter 5, when Victor creates the monster and is ashamed, and afraid of what people would think.

2. Frankenstein learns that his ambition led him to create a creature that he is disgusted by. He also decides that he must keep the monster a secret and cannot tell anyone out of fear of what they would think.

3. "I had worked hard for nearly two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body. For this I had deprived myself of rest and health. I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart" (Shelly pg. 48) This shows how Victor isolated himself to accomplish his goal only to regret it and realize that he wasn't satisfied with his creation

4. Isolation is mainly shown through Victor Frankenstein's obsessive pursuit of creating his creature, leading him to avoid social interaction, keep his project a secret, and ultimately become completely consumed by his work, which caused him to isolate himself from friends and family while he works in secrecy.
