They act as intermediaries between Allah and humanity, guiding people toward righteousness and truth.

• Prophets taught monotheism (Tawhid), called people to worship Allah alone, and provided guidance on how to live ethical lives. They also warned people against sin and disbelief, and foretold of the Day of Judgement.

BELIEF IN THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT

• The Judgement Day requires people to believe that the life of this world and all that is in it will come to an end on an appointed day.

• On that day, all the people who have ever lived will be raised from the dead and will face judgement by Allah.

BELIEF IN QADA AND QADAR

• 4 Components of Qada" and Qadar: Knowledge, Writing, Will, Creation.

• The reason why they are used interchangeably is because Qadr (destiny) is based upon Qada

(Allah's decrees)

• Allah has knowledge of everything, he also has written all His knowledge of the fate of his creation. He also wills the presence or absence of everything in the Heavens or the earth; so, we must believe that Allah is the creator of everything and anything, including death, although it is absence of life.

For this session, we created posters to highlight the wisdom (hikmah) behind each of the main acts of worship, supported by verses from the Qur’an. The aim was to deepen our understanding that these acts are not just rituals, they shape our character and draw us closer to Allah.

• Salah – Surah Al-‘Ankabut (29:45)

“Indeed, prayer restrains from immorality and wrongdoing.”

This verse shows that salah is more than a series of physical motions — it is a spiritual shield. When performed with sincerity and focus, it instills discipline and helps protect us from actions that displease Allah.

• Sawm – Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183)

“Fasting is prescribed… so that you may attain taqwa.”

Fasting goes beyond abstaining from food and drink — it’s a training ground for the soul. It nurtures self-control and heightens our awareness of Allah in every aspect of life.

• Zakat – Surah Al-Tawbah (9:103)

“Take from their wealth a charity… to purify and cleanse them.”

Zakat not only purifies our wealth, but also our hearts. It teaches us that giving doesn’t mean losing — it frees us from greed and nurtures empathy and generosity.

• Hajj – Surah Al-Baqarah (2:197)

”…And whatever good you do – Allah knows it. And take provisions, but the best provision is taqwa.”

Hajj is a profound journey of devotion and self-sacrifice. It fosters patience, humility, and spiritual awareness, reminding us that the most important preparation is not physical, but the taqwa we carry in our hearts.

WEEK 4: VIRTUES YOU GAIN THROUGH SALAH WITH KHUSYU’

Alhamdulillah, we had our presentation on the values we gain through salah with khusyu’, and it went really well!

We focused on five powerful qualities that salah builds in us:

1.Taat (Obedience)

Khusyu’ starts with taat. It’s not just about following rules — it’s about surrendering to Allah with your heart, not just your actions.

2.Jihad (Inner Struggle)

Salah is a kind of jihad not the physical fight, but the struggle within.

Fighting laziness, ignoring distractions, every time you stay focused, that’s a victory.

3.Muhasabah (Self-Reflection)

Prayer gives us a moment to pause and reflect.

We ask: “How is my connection with Allah?”

With khusyu’, we don’t just move but we think, we feel, we check our soul.

4.Iffah (Self-Control)

Iffah is the strength to say no to what’s wrong not just because you’re told to, but because your heart knows better.

Salah strengthens this quiet, inner control.

5.Tawaddu’ (Humility)

When we make sujud, we show tawaddu’ with our whole body.

No pride. No ego. Just us, humbly bowing to our Creator, knowing we are nothing without Him.

Alhamdulillah, we also had our presentation on the virtues of fasting (sawm) and it went really well!

It brought us closer and helped us understand each other better.

Here’s a quick recap of what we shared:

1.Sabr (Patience)

Fasting teaches us to be patient with hunger, with people, and with our own feelings.

It’s a full-day training to stay calm, hold back, and stay in control, even when things get hard.

2.Takrim (Respect and Honour)

When we fast, we naturally become more careful with our words, actions, and how we treat others.

It helps us carry ourselves with respect — for people, for ourselves, and for the ibadah we’re doing.

3.Rahmah (Compassion)

Fasting softens the heart.

When we feel hunger, we remember those who don’t have enough.

It makes us more caring, more understanding, and more willing to forgive, smile, and give.

WEEK 6: THE VIRTUES FOUND IN ZAKAH/SADAQAH

•Tawakkul (Reliance on Allah)

Giving away money isn’t something easy but we often feel the need to hold on tightly to what we have.

But zakat teaches us to let go and trust Allah. It reminds us that our rizq (sustenance) doesn’t come from our jobs, savings, or efforts alone but it comes from Allah.

Every ringgit we give in zakat is a small but powerful act of faith.

It says: “Ya Allah, I trust You to take care of me. I believe in Your promise that charity doesn’t decrease wealth.”

Zakat builds that deep inner confidence in Allah’s plan and provision.

•Ukhuwwah (Brotherhood)

Zakat and sadaqah are not just about money but they’re about people.

When we give, we’re not just helping but we’re connecting.

It strengthens the ties between the rich and the poor, the giver and the receiver.

This is how Islam builds a true ummah because one that looks out for one another, shares burdens, and spreads love.

Giving creates empathy, closes the gaps in society, and reminds us that we’re all one big family under Allah.

Zakat isn’t just charity but it’s care in action

WEEK 7: THE VIRTUES FOUND IN HAJJ/ UMRAH

During our session on Hajj and ‘Umrah, we watched some powerful videos showing the rituals in action and honestly, it was deeply moving.

We realised that Hajj isn’t just a journey to a holy place but it’s a journey of the heart.

•Al-Tadhiyyah (Sacrifice)

From the moment you leave your home to walking under the hot desert sun, Hajj is filled with sacrifice.

It reminds us of the story of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.), who was ready to give up what he loved most — all for the sake of Allah.

Whether it’s money, time, sleep, or comfort, Hajj teaches us that real love for Allah means being ready to let go, even of the things we hold dearest.

Sacrifice becomes a way to show true devotion.

•Taqwa (God-Consciousness)

Every part of Hajj brings your heart closer to Allah.

Wearing the plain ihram, making tawaf around the Kaabah, standing in du’a at Arafah, these are powerful moments that make you feel Allah’s presence deeply.

You’re constantly reminded: Allah sees me, hears me, and knows my heart.

That’s what taqwa really is which is living each moment with the awareness that Allah is near.

And when we carry that taqwa back into our daily lives, the impact of Hajj stays with us long after the trip is over.

For the second usrah session, I became more confident in sharing and joining discussions.

We talked about meaningful topics, supported each other, and I learned a lot from everyone.

I also made new friends and improved my communication and teamwork skills.

If I get the chance to join again, I’d love to be more involved in organizing and maybe try being a facilitator. I also hope to stay connected with the group after usrah ends.

Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. May we continue applying what we’ve learned and grow into better Muslims, seeking Allah’s pleasure in dunya and akhirah.
