Forms Of Collective Behavior: Social Movements

Here is an article about penguins and why it's very important to know. Ice is melting vastly and many animals like penguins are facing troubles. Luckily scientists have developed high- technology systems to observe these creatures from miles away, which will help wildlife conservationists to save their extinction. Emperor penguins are the most endangered due to global warming, but if an established large marine area is protected from commercial fishing around them and finding a hidden area, it could reduce that idea and more opportunity could be made. The textbook talks about social movements on how organizations will put lots of effort in order to bring up a goal or prevent change, especially by setting a structured goal (Thio, pg. 412). These kinds of environmental movements can bring frustration, but more importantly it can bring up a change and make people aware for a better and safe place for themselves and animals.

A Global Analysis Of Social Change: Tradition and Modernization

Many people have a hard time finding information about their culture, but once they have learned about it makes them feel like they have achieved something. In some cases keeping their tradition while maturing becomes an honor. Megan Red Shirt-Shaw is a Native American graduate of education from Harvard University, was fortunate in studying the education of her own culture as well as working in the program with other Native women to teach about it. Her most "eye-opening" moment was when learning the relative contemporary indigenous identity despite some failure for American and Native students in not knowing certain demographics or the breakdown of stereotypes and misunderstandings many people had. Modernization is a form of social change that involves the transformation of an agricultural society into an industrial one. It actually reinforces tradition (Thio, pg. 415).

Web Link:
https://indiancountrymedianetwork.com/education/native-american-students/megan-red-shirt-shaw-fierce-defender-native-american-students/

Functionalist Perspective: Evolutionary Theory

It was funny to have searched for a meme. Personally I feel that God made us according to His image and that the human race has evolved mentally and physically. How do societies change, the answer is that simply that societies operate normally by changing gradually. Evolutionary theory is the theory where societies change gradually from simple to complex forms (Thio, pg. 417). Society went from survival of the fittest, in where aspects of society that worked well would survive, those that didn’t wouldn’t, to barbarism which is uncivilized or rude nature, and then to a civilization, the stage of human social development and organization.

Web Link:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/495940647/funny-nerd-t-shirt-science-tee-nerd-t-go

Conflict Perspective: Revolutionary Change

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable”. - John F. Kennedy

The reason why I chose this quote was because it was inspirational. It’s saying that the less peace to rebelling against the government or toward a social order the more it will never end. John F. Kennedy, the 35th U.S. president, who negotiated the Nuclear Test- Ban Treaty and signed orders prohibiting racial discrimination and laid the groundwork for Civil Rights Act of 1964. It connects to the textbook in which it mentions that society will sometimes make a drastic change by undergoing a radical revolutionary change as a result of social conflict (Thio, pg. 419). Many revolutionist’s goals are to predict, argue, and change favors in order to impose most of the time a positive new system for the society.

Web Link:
http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=9100

Symbolic Interactionist Perspective: Changing Interaction

❀ Self- Perception ❀

Loving one self and knowing what is good for them will prevail a healthy and long lasting beautiful life. It is all mental and up to the emotion when looking at one self. The fact sheet gives an understanding that self- esteem matters by influencing themselves, such as feelings, thoughts, and behaviors to feel good and value oneself because our body deserves to be respected too. Once knowing this, it will be easy to treat people that way too. The textbook mentions people learn to interact with one another since childhood (Thio, pg. 421). While growing up, people have the chance to know themselves and or follow their parents foots which in a way will help determine how they will interact with others.

Web Link:
http://www.heretohelp.bc.ca/factsheet/body-image-self-esteem-and-mental-health

In the image you can notice the vintage garments of the family. They all seem to be interacting with each other and no electronics on the table. During the 1980’s, there weren't many electronics only a few like big phone devices and heavy computers. It amazes me how much the technology has improved and how it's going more green day by day. In the textbook it mentions that the economy has risen, more families are working, including both parents (Thio, pg. 421). Even though the gap between each class is still large, people today are enjoying more goods and services.

Web Link:
http://www.aimanz.com/portfolio-archive/parent-testimonials/

What the Future will be like

The video was very interesting and futuristic. It gave bullet points of how the future will be in 2020, like how 20% of global energy will come from renewable sources, which is already existing, how ground beef grown from animal cells will be sold in grocery stores, how more complex organ replacements grown from stem cells will be tested, just like at the moment ear organs growing in people's legs, and how Nasa will land a rover on Mars, recently Space X launched a Tesla Roadster to Mars on the Falcon Heavy Rocket. In the textbook it mentions that 1946- 1966 baby boomers will reach retirement age, more jobs will require intellectual people too rather than the physical skills only (Thio, pg. 423). There will be more technology advances, by making better computers and other higher-technologies and machines.
