  • Hypothalamus - located in the lower central part of the brain. Regulates of satiety, metabolism, and body temperature
  • Pituitary - located at the base of the brain. Secretes a lot of hormones and controls a lot of bodily functions
  • Thyroid - located in the lower front part of the neck. Produces thyroid hormones that regulate metabolism
  • Parathyroids - Are two pairs of small glands embedded in the surface of the thyroid gland. Release parathyroid hormone
  • Adrenals - Triangular-shaped glands located on top of each kidney. Produces corticosteroids and catecholamines
  • Pineal body - Located in the middle of the brain. It secretes melatonin
  • Reproductive organs - The main source of sex hormones. Produces androgens for males, and estrogen and progesterone as well as eggs for females
  • Pancreas - Elongated organ located toward the back of the abdomen. Secretes digestive enzymes and insulin and glucagon
