Then how these difficulties may make them appear as if they are not interested, when in reality they may just be struggling/slower to process or remember some of the information. 

It was interesting to read about Rebecca Bostock's study to see how anxiety can negatively impact learning and cause a more fixed mindset. Then also how fixed mindsets can stop students getting the best out of learning experience. e.g. being worried about answering in case they make mistakes when instead they should use it as an opportunity to learn in an environment which should be safe. 

From this unit, I will take away that before a student is classed as disengaged/not interested, other factors should be thought about and taken into account which could explain why they may seem this way. 

I will also try and apply a more growth mindset to my own learning experiences and identify when my mindset may be more fixed. This could also help in situations where I am teaching a student.

Obviously content and delivery of teaching material can impact on engagement, but this unit explored factors beyond this.

It will be interesting to read methods of supporting students to develop a growth mindset.

I haven't had a lot of experience in teaching students with SpLDs, so this unit has been useful in gaining more of an understanding and thinking on ways to create an inclusive learning environment.

An appreciation of the multifactorial nature of learning I hope will allow me to better design teaching sessions to students, ones that are presented logically and focus on key points to ensure that the content presented is easier to learn. 
I had some understanding of learning difficulties previously but this has been a valuable reminder that there are external factors that may be impacting on a student's learning.

As someone who has had multiple experiences of interacting with people with SpLDs and disabilities, but not of teaching them, it was very useful to learn more specifically about the range of ways that these can impact learning, and how to work towards creating an inclusive and supporting learning environment.

A lot of people will have some aspects of both a fixed mindset and a growth mindset when it comes to learning, and this unit has helped me understand more about how ways in which the teaching is delivered can both encourage a growth mindset and help the learner to move away from a fixed mindset.
