         <description><![CDATA[<div>The <strong>Doge's Palace</strong> (in Italian <em>Palazzo Ducale</em>) is a historical building in Genoa, in northern Italy.</div><div>At the beginning it was the home of the Doges of Genoa, but now it's a museum and a centre for cultural events and arts exhibitions. It's situated in the heart of the city, with two different entrances and facades: the first one on Piazza Matteotti, and the second one on Piazza De Ferrari.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The first parts of the Palace were built between 1251 and 1275, during the period of the Republican history of Genoa.</div><div>The palace was born from the acquisition by the commune of Genoa of houses of the Doria between San Matteo and San Lorenzo churches .In 1294 was added a tower of the Fieschi family. The palace was restored in the 1590s by Andrea Ceresola. In 1777 there was a fire that destroyed the entire building , but luckly was rebuilt in Neoclassicist style by Simone Cantoni.</div><div>The Palace of the Doges was restored in 1992, in occasion of the celebrations of Christopher<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Columbus"> </a>Columbus and the 500th anniversary of the discover of America.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The exterior of the palace</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The <strong>Grimaldina tower</strong>, in the fourteenth century called "tower of the people", consists of seven floors, the four lower ones included inside Palazzo Fieschi while the three upper ones are above the building. All the floors, except the last one, are decorated in various ways. Since the Middle Ages the last floor of the tower was a cell and bells until 1941, when during the Second World War the present one was merged to make cannons.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are two facades in front of  two squares and the first is in front of Piazza de Ferrari.<br><strong>Piazza De Ferrari</strong> is situated in the heart of Genoa between the historical and the modern center. In Piazza De Ferrari there's a big fountain that is very famous in Genoa.</div><div>Today next to Piazza De Ferrari are numerous office buildings, headquarters of banks and other private companies. </div><div>The first name of the square was St. Domenico square, but in 1875 it was named Piazza de Ferrari after Raffaele De Ferrari, duke of Galliera, politician and banker and the fountain was built in 1936.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are two facades in front of  two squares and the second is in front of Piazza Matteotti.<br>Piazza Matteotti is a square in Genoa. It is located in the quay at the edge of the historic city center. The square has a T shape, whose north side is surrounded by the Palazzo Ducale, whose main entrance opens into the square. At the northwest starts Via San Lorenzo, which leads to the cathedral of the same name, while at the south-east Via di Porta Soprana is near the church of the Gesù and leads to the ancient gateway to the city walls. At the east via Pietro Boetto connects the square with Piazza De Ferrari, landmark of the city, while at the west Salita Pollaioli is close to the houses of the historic center.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The main entrance inside the building is represented by the large door that overlooks Piazza Matteotti and leads to the arcaded atrium built by Vannone. From it it is possible to climb the marble staircase that leads to the upper floor or to reach the west of the ramp system that connects all floors of the building. This structure, called "hanging street", was designed by the Italian architect Giovanni Spalla in 1992.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In this space the whole surface is decorated: the floor and the walls with the architectures and the decorations in precious marble.<br>The pictorial program is very intense, structured by false illusory architectures of a space that extends towards the vault and the walls, painted with spectacular skill by the painter Giulio Benso.<br>The entire composition was made by Giovanni Battista Carlone, executed between 1653 and 1655.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In Doge's Palace there are a lot of art exhibitions of famous painters or artists every year like Pablo Picasso, Rubaldo Merello, André Kertész, Vivian Maier and Andy Warhol and I think that in the future there will be a lot of other art exhibitions of famous people, but I hope that there will be more technological exhibitions that will be on robots, computers and technological gadgets.</div>]]></description>
