I'm pretty sure that all of his hope lies with O'Brien and his reasoning is that the brotherhood is still a thing because he gave him a look one time. He never lets Winston know that he is on his side and that causes Winston to think that O'Brien might just kill him cause he is an inner party member. Winston just wants to desperately believe in something that will give him hope in the future and that way he won't believe that he's believed in something fake for such a long time. I think that Winston believes it to be more fate because he thinks that if he does go see him it will either be the start of what he wants to do which is rebel or he'll die when he can't do anything about it.

Winston now thinks he must obey O'Brien and it is his fate to make the first move. With O'Brien giving him the dictionary he suspects to find a hidden note or message. Winston believes in him because of his carefulness. They were right in front of the telescreen then O'Brien wrote on the paper so Winston didn't have to be extra secret about it and hide it. O'Brien also didn't say Syme's name for there own lives which was smart. He talked in rhymes so that Winston understood bu the government could not. To Winston O'Brien is a expert at this and he knows what he is doing. He is a God to Winston and wants to serve him.

O'Brien changed Winston's mind about Big Brother because he proved that brotherhood is still a thing. Any hope of rebellion lies with O'Brien and his plan. Winston finds himself closer to making contact with a real rebellion than he had ever dreamed. Winston feels that he is on the verge of actually joining a true rebellion against the Party, he can't bring himself to believe that he will actually be successful in defeating it. He assumes he will die an awful death in the Ministry of Love, but the dignity of standing and fighting is enough for him, even if it ends in death. He believes this is his fate, because he's been forced to believe in Big Brother for so long.

Winston is still trying to prove that the brotherhood has a say in things. When they rebel they are following what O'Brien says and what he tells them to do fro his plan. Winston wishes that he could rebel more then he does, he does not even know what rebelling feels like because he does not rebel enough. Winston wants to be strong enough to win against the party. He says that he can not beat it because he can not stand to loose against the party or stand up for himself. Winston says that he will die a death by the Ministry of Love. Winston does not belive in a lot because he was taught to only belive the Big Borther.
