The implementation of technology in lessons should be guided by student needs and the learning outcomes we wish to see

In addition, these implementations have to be timely and meet students when they are ready for the tasks at hand

What I wish to apply in my classroom:

• I do wish to be able to engage my students to be more effective note-takers and hence would relook my plans to carve out time for students to meaningfully update their e-journals in class. (They are currently doing it as homework, which not everyone does. 😔)
• I do hope, as well, to be more intentional in the use of technology in class and to engage my students in their use on a more consistent basis. As it is, I tend to fall back to "pen and paper" quite easily when I notice that students are not engaged. Perhaps what did not go so well was that I was not consistent and could reflect more on why I believe that the integration of technology is truly beneficial for the students.

My insight: A teacher's knowledge of pedagogy/content/skills is very key in devising these lessons - so that tasks/activities are not piecemeal.

EDIT: At the end of the day, all we do with regards to tech in the classroom has to:
(i) service the needs and preferences of our specific learners
(ii) achieve the short and long term learning objectives that we set out to achieve
(iii) provide value add or new dimensions to our existing instructional practices

Feedback, be it written or audio, must be constructive and helpful. Things that students did not do well enough have to be reframed and phrased as areas to work on. 

Agree that online journaling can be a very helpful way to get students to see their learning devt and needs.
