In fact, as with most things, humans tend to misuse technologies and make it a potentiel threat to humanity and more precisely : our confidentiality.

It is no secret that nowadays, companies collect data from other firms' processes, but also on their employees and customers. And you might be one of them.

With over 1 thousand billion GB of data stored on the world's computers, companies have found an easy way to know their customers' preferences and personalize algorithms to make them buy more.

They also sell this data to generate a profit.

However, it is also expected that half of the jobs worlwide could disappear in the next 20 years, with 60 millions of them being in the US alone.

Journalism, for example, is bound to disappear. Indeed, data and machines could simply generate stories and relate them on national television. It is even estimated that soon, 90% of the stories we hear will be AI generated.

In fact, low income people would get poorer whilst the wealthy ones would get richer day by day. This dynamic would deepen the gap between social classes and therefore, deepen inequality.

If we find a way to create more jobs as others are lost and if we give enough time for everybody to adapt to the changes, then there is a chance for humanity to avoid this scenario.

Advanced technologies will allow humanity to become more productive and efficient, but the direction in which they are heading depends entirely on the people who own those machines.
