Always nature has been of great importance for man, we see this now at school because we are studying the Romantic age, as Rousseau said: "man can be himslef only in strict contact with nature". One day when I was 13 my italian teacher asked me to read Tom Sawyer; I found the novel really nice, not only for the story itself but because an unspoilt nature was described.
Tom loved nature and the place where he lived, so I asked my mother to tell me something more about Mark Twain and American literature. A few years after I saw "Into the wild" at the cinema, because I was fascinated by this movie. It was the story of a boy who, fascinated by some novels he read when he was at university, decided to leave his hometown, family and friends to travel for two years alone in the USA and Mexico, to escape from the capitalistic society in which he lived. During his voyage he met several people, he led a simple life with only the necessary with him, preferring solitude to socialising.
He was convinced that living alone was a spiritual experience especially if in strict contact with nature. The final part of the movie is sad, he died alone because he ate some poisoned barries.
