The people I met and the experiences I shared with them, were unique. I am still in contact with most of the American and International friends I met there. What I always tell my students is that learning English will allow them to travel, open their minds and meet people from all over the world. That was just before the pandemic outbreak. The most important thing I learned from this experience was that the language doesn't have to be perfect to convey the message. Even when I made grammar or spelling mistakes, I was still communicating and I was understood.
