In my initial read of the case study, I found myself siding with the engineering team because it made sense that they would want to provide detailed specifics to the learners. Upon my second read, however, I realized that ultimately, Electron wanted a training that was focused on liability, which fell into legal's wheelhouse. I had to remove my bias to be able to look at the potential solutions objectively.

For Michael, a big drawback of his original product was that he had limited evidence to support that it would boost standardized test scores or contribute to students' course grades. Michael needed an assessment component of his course to demonstrate that learning did indeed occur and that said learning would be demonstrated through students' grades and through improved proficiency test performance.

While reading and doing the analysis, I kept myself in the rigid box of "its a computer game software for individual computers". There's no reason it couldn't have been updated for modern tablets and turned into an app or even deployed on the internet and used as a subscription based game. It'd be easier to implement updates and include new research as time goes on.

I have exceeded the expectations of my scores regularly with actual academic performance. Mainly, I am stubborn and do not like labels. However, in community college, I see students who believe those labels and do not believe hard work will overcome them. 
Anyway, Michael Bishop did not spend enough time evaluating how the game would operate in the classroom environment. In a world that is so driven and influenced by test scores, it gave the impression that Michael didn’t really know his audience since he didn’t have evaluation data to support his claims.

However, Lynn's case brought to the foreground the difficulty that can occur when other people aren't as aware of cost vs expectation. Jeanette was selling an idea and that's why she is good at what she does. However, her misunderstanding of what can be accomplished within a budget is skewed. And that skewed understanding doesn't cause issues for her, but instead for the people who then have to try to meet those expectations without the needed budget.

Teams fear new perspective because they fear the new person cannot have sympathy for their situation or understand their barriers.  While a new person may not understand all the barriers, some barriers may not desreve attention. New people are better at determining what barriers are real and which ones are not.  Fresh perspective can be powerful if teams are courageous enough to consider new ideas and change.  Vincent had some good ideas regarding time management.  Imagine if people gave new team members more deferrence, how much progress we could all make!

All my responses this week revolved around David resisting change; however, others seemed to have positive thoughts that he will be a team player. I think an important question to ask is: do these classes really need to be this large? Could more professors be hired to reduce class size? There are advantages to this situation because Gina is open to using her course schedule as a model and has used the case based learning model in the past. The fact that David knows about this model and just doesn't like it creates more problems for the IDer because she can't just come to him with data and numbers, he knows the facts and he's still not on board. But, I value the freedom RP allows in making design choices that fit best with the client's needs.

However, I do wonder if it truly is that much faster, since the foundation isn't strong from the beginning, which means it may require more editing work during the design process. However, it does have value and can be very useful when responsive stakeholders are involved.
