As a future agent of hope I want to be able to enable people (students and teachers) to develop enterprising and innovative habits in order to meet the challenges of the 21st century. As a future agent of hope, I want to assist students to find their true selves so that they may be able to pursue what they are passionate about in life. I will strive to teach, as well as learn from my students in an open and collaborative environment. I will always look beyond the ordinary in a quest to bring the world into the classroom and to provide authentic learning experiences in which students will thrive and achieve personal success. I will be an innovative and reflective practitioner with a demonstrated commitment to life-long learning. Finally, I will value each learner as a person with unique talents, experiences and insights, and enable them to fulfill their full potential, whatever that may be.
Antonia

I want them to feel that it's OKAY to make mistakes, and that instead of "doing they best they could", they strive to jump over hurdles. I want them to know to discover their own talents through exploration, and through showing me as a teacher what they want to see reflected in the classroom, rather than me deciding what is reflected in the classroom. Finally, I want my students to feel creative, and feel that their contributions are valued. All in all, I won't let them settle for "I did the best I could" - Elana

Dear Sonia,
I want you to remember what you read some time ago in your Junior AQ course about EMPOWERMENT. I want you to remember what is important about learning - educators are striving not only to gain students' attention and engage them in learning but to inspire them. As I write this, and in the future you are in - you must also seek to empower students and your staff. That means allowing them to blossom and recognize their strengths and how they can use them for change, for success and most importantly for good. Implementing a path to empowerment for staff and students can be as easy as the "genius hour". Giving people time to explore and discover ignites the spark from which they can light their fire. You as a future leader have the power and the responsibility to unleash potential, to nurture talent and to inspire student not only to learn in your classroom, but be lifelong learners. Life long learning is a journey where the traveler is ever engaged and open to being empowered by that journey. Also, be kind to yourself so that you are strong enough to give what is needed to make others the best they can be! Love, Sonia
