On January 31st, 1865 congress passed Amendment 13 which abolished slavery in America. It was ratified on December 6th of the same year. This gave congress the power to enforce the law of no slavery. This changes how we viewed equality because we thought that all men were created equal, but until the 13th amendment none of us were really considered equal. This kept the constitution dynamic because this changes our knowledge of the 5th amendment which states the government cannot take away anyone’s life liberty or property without due process of law. "For more than two decades now our immigration system, everybody acknowledges, has been broken," And the fact that the Supreme Court wasn't able to issue a decision today doesn't just set the system back even further, it takes us further from the country that we aspire to be." President Obama stated this after his law to allow more than 4 million undocumented immigrants to become citizens was struck down by the Supreme Court.This issue has been a popular topic for so long and now it will become even more popular and affect the lives of many. The majority of the popular agreed through their elected officials and their nominee for the supreme court struck it down. Showing the constitutions is stable because it kept the laws around immigration in tact and no interpretation of it was done.
