After that we build on their skills based on the patron demand and during down times. Individual training sessions with full time staff happen throughout the year by appointment. We're working on a training video with a quiz module so they can show proficiency with the content, and then they'll come in the space to get hands on training on the machine itself. We're collaborating with the other makerspaces on campus so we can coordinate our trainings and ensure that all trainings are the same across the spaces.

This carries over to the student workers.

We will often ask our students to work on personal projects with newer equipment to build proficiency, but we won't require a certain level of fit and finish.
