The government has encouraged people to move from crowded coastal cities into the interior so they can help develop Brazil’s rich forests and mineral resources.

The development of the interior improves the economy.

Minerals like beef and timber are sold on the work market.

Farmers have cut down and burned forest, causing damage to the atmosphere.

In some areas due to trying to farm on unsuitable soil, dessert-like conditions were created.

Diseases have been spread to the Indians of the rainforest from settlers.

Today Brazilians are looking to modernize without taking such a high tool on the environment.

Held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5 to August 21, 2016.

More than 11,000 athletes participate, with 306 sets of medals to give out

Rio became the first South American city to host the Summer Olympics.

The lead-up to these Games was marked by controversies, including the instability of the country's federal government; health and safety concerns surrounding the Zika virus and significant pollution in the Guanabara Bay; and a doping scandal involving Russia, which affected the participation of its athletes in the Games.

The estimated cost was 4.6 Billion USD

Guanabara Bay is heavily polluted. 

Among the chief causes of the pollution are uncollected trash fed into the bay via polluted rivers and slums along the coast.

The people living in these slums are called Favelas.

Their homes were destroyed to build grounds for the 2016 Olympics.
