He lives locally in Hillhead with his husband Stephen and labradoodle, Jill. Jack struggles with depression since retiring early due to ill health. Jack follows Partick Thistle football club and never misses a home game. He has a few close friends that he meets with every Saturday afternoon (and sometimes midweek) in a pub close to Firhill to discuss football. He enjoys a good drink but would not consider this a problem although Stephen would like him to cut back. Jack reads a lot of non-fiction particularly related to the Spanish Civil War and regularly attends Glasgow Philosophical Society lectures. She is currently in temporary accommodation in Townhead but is looking for something more permanent since she will be in Glasgow for the next 3 years. Despite having excellent written English skills, she lacks confidence in spoken English and is finding the Glaswegian accent difficult to tune in to.  In Romania Maria regularly volunteered at her local primary school working with children with learning difficulties.  She is passionate about using various media to communicate ideas and messages and often used cartoons, short videos and video games to engage the pupils.
