Mr. Caroompas, it’s me, Sebby. When I first found out that I got you as my teacher for 6th, I was genuinely excited! Plus, when I got to know you, the fact that you were heavily invested in football and a Rams fan made you even cooler, especially as a 49ers fan (sucks we lost the Super Bowl that season). However, I was always happy that entire year, from start to finish! I hope you have a great retirement! Go Rams! ( and 9ers!)

Sebastian Konofalski

Class of 2023-2024

Hi, Mr. Caroompas! Congratulations on such a long and meaningful career. Thank you for having such a profound impact on me as a learner from such a young age, for encouraging my interest in STEM, and for letting me spend countless recesses talking your ear off. One of my favorite memories was when we made ancient Greece-inspired vases with Paper mache. I hope you enjoy your time away from teaching, you deserve it! You've had such an amazing impact on so many students. Thank you for everything!

Jaida Morgan

Class of 2011-2012

Happy Retirement, it sure has been a while. You are extremely sucessful teacher that carries many titles, such are inventor of the wheel and the first teacher on Earth. I had a great year in your class and had a lot of fun working on those projects and math. I had a lot of great experiences as well, and overall the 6th grade in your class was really chill. I'll always remember the lockdown that happened and we all thought something was wrong, and you didn't tell us it was a drill and proceeded to explain the Ram's defense. Haha. Have a great retirement full of watching the Rams (get owned). As always, Go Bills!!

-London Thatcher

I appreciate how much you challenged us through extra math classes early in the morning and how you always made sure I was reading a book at my reading level (even if I wasn’t super excited about it hehe). All the projects you assigned us really helped with my time management skills for middle school, and I still remember how excited I was when you told us about your love for glitter. Also, it was so fun to spend tons of time making teasing poems about Mr.Schinhofen! Thank you for making our last year at Kaiser a memorable one!

Sage Feichtmann 2023 - 2024

I read A Tale of Two Cities in your class, and I couldn’t have finished it without your encouragement. Recently I’ve started reading Les Miserables and I couldn’t have done with the confidence your class instilled in me. Thank you so much. You also allowed me to get ahead in math, and now I’m doing pretty well in AP Calculus and I’m so grateful for your help and encouragement. Thank you for everything.

My sixth grade year will always hold a special place in my heart! Though it’s been ten years, I could never forget your disdain for SWUN math, your particular obsession with all things glitter (which inspired my glittery science fair poster board), your loyalty to the Rams, or your cadaver lab stories from chiropractic school.

I think of sixth grade as the year of projects — from a fully functional solar oven, to blueprints for a “dream home” I struggled to fill with my comically inflated budget, to an at-scale model of the Parthenon. You challenged 11-year-olds to rise to interesting and impressive challenges, and I remember feeling empowered being entrusted with such exciting endeavors.

Having always seen myself as an ELA gal, I remember initially resisting your love for math, but your passion and patience in the subject truly inspired me to be open to the wide world of STEM. Next year I’ll be graduating with a B.S. from UCLA, so I’m happy to report the nudging toward the Math/Sciences certainly worked — I have since completed many a math class!

I am just one of scores of students who have been impacted in profound ways by your dedication and enthusiasm for teaching. Thank you for all that you have done for your students. I hope you enjoy a well-deserved, restful retirement.

All the best,

Anna Walburger, ’15/‘16

You somehow managed to make all of our class projects and lessons educational, memorable, and exciting. I remember spending hours on my bedroom floor invested in my dream house floor plan, and still think of the stories you would tell about your goldfish during our lessons. Your math class as well as your afterschool math program prepared me so well for my track in middle and high school, and I now that I am planning on majoring in engineering, I know that I wouldn’t have been able to come this far without your prep. Thank you for making learning fun, and for showing us how capable and smart we are. I will always remember your class, stories, love for glitter, and constant jokes with Mr Schinhofin.

Mr. Caroompas, I just want to wish you a happy retirement and congratulate you on the long teaching career you've racked up. I want to say having you as my 6th grade teacher was one of the biggest blessings I could have ever had at that age. Going into your class every morning was the highlight of my day because I knew I was in store for something new each and everyday. Especially when it came to Math you helped add fuel to my burning passion for Math and I can gladly say it still burns bright to this day. That passion as long as my passion for science has pushed me to major in chemical engineering. Along with that overall I can say ur push for academics has stuck with me and u can proudly know that you ended up producing a valedictorian. But beyond just the academics I can say you thought us more than what could be found in books and numbers. You let us break off into class rambles so we could have well thought out class discussions with one another sneaking in life lessons that we didnt realize at the time. One of those sticking with me through and through that Life is not fair, staying plaquered on the fireplace of yours. Its an invaluable lesson for you to leave with me, and one that makes be realize I cant control everything in my life and I have to it for what is sometimes. Theres so much more I could talk about whether it be the countless gauntlet of projects I procrastinated upon, or that one time I played you in basketball and lost, 6th grade year with you as my teacher is something I will never forget. I hope now that everything is all said and done you enjoy your retirement whether it be golfing, or enjoying the thrill of the rams season, whilst knowing the old fossil Mr.Schinhofin outlasted you.

Thank You for everything,

- Michael Vassilev Class of 2019

I must admit that at first I wanted Ms. Kwan, but when I got to know you I realized that I got lucky. You have taught me so much. Such as probability, being grateful, tips for life, time management, and so much more. You’re a very wise teacher who is “kind and generous” and in love with the Rams. Thank you for being able to tolerate our class. For me, dealing with two boy cousins is enough, but twenty five children is a lot of work.

Hi Mr Caroompas, it is Melissa. Being in your class last year was a blast! I loved trying to think of a new poem for Mr.Shinhofin every week. Making the Greek vases towards the end of the year was so fun because of the mess we made and peeling the glue off of the containers. When I first joined ur class I was not the best at math but since being in your class last year I have gotten stronger in math and better. Having you talk about the Rams 24/7 and wasting class time with it was so fun because we would do nothing for 30 minutes and just listen to you talk about how the Rams are better than the 49ers. I hope that you enjoy your retirement because you deserve it after being a hard working teacher for many years.

Melissa Vassilev class of 2024

Hi Mr. Caroompas this is Cameron aka Cam. You were one of the highlights of my years at Kaiser. Sixth grade was amazing because of you. Even though I had heard that you were strict and assigned a lot of homework, I could not have been happier to walk into your class with a good perspective. You taught me so much such as time management. Having you as my sixth grade teacher made the year unforgettable and gave me a head start when progressing to middle school. You have helped me so much as I have continued my academic career. I loved making Greek vases (which I still have) and advancing my math skills with your help. The small bets that you made about us getting no homework if the Rams won always kept it interesting. The projects were fun and sometimes hard, but you helped me through it and I loved that. Thank you for being such a great teacher, and I wish you luck with your retirement.

Class of 2023-2024

Mr. Caroompas

We are all so happy you left chiropractic medicine behind to become a teacher. Who knew that was the perfect path. You have an amazing legacy of students who are better prepared for the future due in part by their experience in your class. Your Life’s not fair poster always sticks in my head as a reminder to work hard and do your best. I can’t thank you enough for investing so much into your class and I know Jantzen and Caden would not be the same students or people without you. Wishing you the very best in retirement.

Sherri Fenn
