The Union victory would not have been talked about without the support of the women. This is also important in order for girls to identify with figures of the past and to know that women are important.

This could be a research project for the class. I would split the class into groups of 2-3 students, and provide the resources. I believe that creativity and the freedom to make decisions in the classroom is important, and so I would leave much of the students decisions on how to present their findings up to them.

Most sources would need explanation and support from the teacher. There would be class time dedicated to go over each source and work in groups.
