When heated, the molecules in gas gain more kinetic energy. Already, having a ton of energy, they gain much more further needed more room to expand. Such as in the experiments we observed, when gas is heated, they turn into the flash and start escaping (the bubble). On the other hand, when cooled, their kinetic energy lowers and they slow down. But as they are still in gas form, they are still pretty fast. When gases get heated far too much, they start to bump into each other and heat starts to transfer from hot to cold causing a term we know, conduction. Gases are very unique since they have the most kinetic energy than all the other forms of matter.
