Pinterest allows users to post and share “pins” which can be images, videos or GIFs and save them to “boards”. Pinterest boards are collections of images related to a particular topic or interest, which can be made public or private. Users can follow users or boards to see content on their feed. Pinterest has a very effective system of personalising content for the user. Based on what you save, you will get similar content recommendations on your feed. Pocket is another platform that allows users to bookmark and manage information. In contrast to Pinterest, the main focus of Pocket is online journalism and news articles, although other media is still shared on the site. Pocket collects articles from across the Internet and allows users to save and organise them in one place. Pocket has many useful organisational tools such as allowing users to tag items with keywords, which makes it easier to find and come back to content later. Users can also create lists and organise related items into one place. You can search certain keywords or tags to find content related to your interests. Although both Pocket and Pinterest have similar bookmarking systems, I find Pinterest more user-friendly and easier to understand. Organising content into boards is a very fun and easy way of managing information, which I found more effective than Pocket’s listing system.

Privacy Policy - YouTube

As a user of YouTube, I wish to know how much of my personal information is collected. I would like to be told exactly what information is collected and stored on the site. I would like to be certain that the information on record such as my name, age, gender, phone number etc is encrypted, stored securely and safe from data breaches.
I would like to be told exactly how my user activity and behaviours are tracked. And further, what this information is used for.
I would like to know if my information is being sold to third-party organisations, and if I have the option to opt-out. As well as the option to opt-out of targeted advertisements.
I want to have confidence in the fact that information I choose to be private, remains private. If I choose to have a private profile or upload videos privately, these are not shared with other users.
I wish to be informed on the exact rights I have to the content that I upload on the site. And, if this content is being shared or used for purposes other than the original intent of the upload.
I would like comprehensive customer support on the site and to have protection over my personal data and the content that I upload. I hope to be made aware of any data breaches, and what steps are being taken to protect my information if this were to happen.
I wish to be easily able to edit or delete content from the site, and be sure it is not stored internally or shared after it has been removed. If it is stored, I wish to know how long this information is retained for.

The inclusion of 1. is important as personal information such as name, age, etc., if stolen can have bad implications such as identity theft. It is the responsibility of companies to protect this information and be transparent with users. If 2. is implemented, I can tailor my own behaviours online to ensure my own privacy and have an amount of autonomy over my personal information. This also links to points 4., 5. and 7. of my privacy policy. Point 6. is crucial and I would choose not to use a site that doesn’t ensure this level of user protection.
