I am very against bullying in all ways shapes and forms. The textbook this is regard to it, "Bullying and harassment are common, but that does not mean that they should be acceptable," (6). Sadly this is very true today. Many people talk about how they hate bullying but yet they themselves do it, maybe even unintentionally. Unit 4 also mentions, "bullying and harassment are meant to intimidate and terrorize the victim," (6). The results of terrorizing someone can be devastating, in the worst cases, people can commit suicide. Other effects, as the text mentions, are, "bothering someone to the point where the environment becomes dangerous in some way," (6). The people bullying AND the people being bullied can both become violent whether it is at that moment or later on.

I distinctly remember seeing someone being bullied in 6th grade. I had been noticing it more and more before that and I decided that someone needed to stand up for him. I didn't want to stand up for him in front of the bullies because that may have embarrassed him, so one day I saw it happening and privately went up to a teacher and told them what had been going on. The teacher tactfully when over and ended the dispute and punished the bullies. I never saw them bother him again. It doesn't mean it stopped forever, but I am glad I stood up for him before he did something he regretted. The worse thing you can do is become like the person who bullies you.
