I would use the archive feature. It is invaluable when you have been teaching the same grade for a while. You can organize and file lessons that you use each year. Although lessons always have to be tweaked depending on your student population, at least you will have them and all in one place.

I would use the emailing feature to communicate with my students’ parents/guardians. It is a lot more convenient than phone calls, especially when many parents tend to change their cell numbers often, but not their email addresses. It will also make it easier when I have to send the same information to all of my parents at once. Emails help keep the lines of information open.

I would use all of the grading features. They each have a benefit that will help make my life as a teacher a lot easier. I especially like emailing students. It allows for private conversations.

There are a few class features that would be great to use with my UPK students and families: 1.) the Manage Class Settings for involving & inviting UPK families to know what their child is learning in a particular area of learning such as ELA and communicate with me regarding the carry-over they are seeing at home; 2.) Assign to Individual Students is important because there are many developmental levels of learning at the Pre-K level as well as in any grade level classroom and having this feature to send individualized directives to my parents as to how to help their child best with the assignment is quite helpful. 3.) Setting Notifications is another helpful feature so that I know when my parents have questions or their child has completed the assignment.

The most helpful Communication Features that I would use in my Pre-K classroom is 1.) Emailing Guardians and 2.) Inviting Guardians – both again are a great opportunity to engage my UPK families into their child’s learning and classroom when they may not have the opportunity to be physically involved within the classroom for various factors.

Lastly Grading Features – UPK does not have a grading system but rather developmental levels of learning – each child varies - as such Giving Feedback on Assignments to parents with regard to their student’s developmental level and growth as quickly as possible is highly important to them to understand how their child is progressing and this feature would be a wonderful asset to our home/school connection in Pre-K.
