On the one hand, and on the other, the policies of having slaves are fine, and on the other, they are counteracted, since they say that the slaves must be freed. What almost always occurs is that they do not want to leave anyone dissatisfied and there are laws that support those who are against slavery and others such as the fugitive slave law that helps those who support slavery. But many preferred not to allow slavery. Also several of the policies had no validity prior to the Missouri Compromise of 1820, until they became obsolete with the Compromise of 1850 and thereafter no longer merged with the Kansas Nebraska Act. in 1854 ALEXIS

Many political decisions made those who did not support slavery and others anger the slaveholders. Almost all the political decisions that were made to support the slaveholders were made in order to expand, and those who did not want to were not always because they wanted to advocate for their rights. They just lived in a racial mindset and didn't want to see people of color everywhere, on the other hand those who had slaves didn't have to pay them because they bought or rented them as objects and saved themselves from hiring servants. To summarize many movements were not liked by the public and until the arrival of Lincoln it was not that many accepted them. Alexis

Thanks to many people who had a different mentality and with the own words of those who lived the same slavery telling their own experiences of being slaves. Also many important people who did not support slavery, such as presidents and people in government. Many also because members of his family did not support him, or simply out of curiosity. Many also joined because their religion did not allow these abuses of slavery or in some cases they were slaveholders and they heard their slaves and realized that this was an abuse of their person.
How people got involved in the movement of the resistance would be the underground rail road for example. I use this one for example because the underground rail road was used for helping slaves escape. In the end it was really successful because it had helped a lot of slaves. The textual advance ¨The Underground Railroad had many notable participants, including John Fairfield in Ohio, the son of a slave holding family, who made many daring rescues, Levi Coffin, a Quaker who assisted more than 3,000 slaves, and Harriet Tubman, who made 19 trips into the South and escorted over 300 slaves to freedom previous next ¨. - rylie

Black and white abolitionists in the first half of the nineteenth century waged a assault against slavery. Their efforts proved to be extremely effective. Abolitionists focused attention on slavery and made it difficult to ignore. They heightened the rift that had threatened to destroy the unity of the nation even as early as the Constitutional Convention. Although some Quakers were slaveholders, members of that religious group were among the earliest to protest the African slave trade, the perpetual bondage of its captives, and the practice of separating enslaved family members by sale to different masters. As the nineteenth century progressed, many abolitionists united to form numerous antislavery societies. These groups sent petitions with thousands of signatures to Congress, held abolition meetings and conferences, boycotted products made with slave labor, printed mountains of literature, and gave innumerable speeches for their cause. Individual abolitionists sometimes advocated violent means for bringing slavery to an end. Although black and white abolitionists often worked together, by the 1840s they differed in philosophy and method. While many white abolitionists focused only on slavery, black Americans tended to couple anti-slavery activities with demands for racial equality and justice.

The Underground Railroad was a network of clandestine routes and safe houses established in the United States during the early- to mid-19th century. It was used by enslaved African Americans primarily to escape into the free states and Canada. Slaves traveling on the Underground Railroad were called passengers. Conductors helped guide slaves to freedom. Agents worked to free the slaves by making them new clothes, collecting money for food and medicine, teaching them to read and write, or making speeches to convince people that slavery was wrong.
