Proxy War is when a head of command is unable to do their work so someone else fills that role for them instead.

Why the Cold War is not a traditional kind of war.

The main reason why it's not the normal type war is that it has no real fight. It's were they are very close to war and are at the brink. Making it intense but not much happens because of these back and forth between countries it still is a war.

Why Koreans are fighting each other in the late 1940s into the early 1950s

The main reason was that they divided into two sides north and south because of the 38th parallel that made a divided border between them. This was of the difference in viewpoints with control in their country.

The role USA had on the Korean War

The USA joined to be able to control the views on capitalism and make that the main economy power in Korea. They also mainly helped with south side of Korea.

The role the Soviet Union had in the Korean War

The Soviets had helped with the north part of Korea and the complete opposite idea of what the USA was going for. Instead Soviets wanted communism to be more in Korea.

Timeline of The Korean War

1945 - The north and south Korea are in a conflict on how they are going to separate into two seperate places because of the different opinions on communism and capitalism.

1950 - Kim Il Sung the leader of North Korea does a surprise attack on South Korea in trying to rejoin both Korean sides into one.

The USA joined thinking the Soviet Union was helping the invasion the USA went over to stop the spread of communism. With help of the United Nations with support to South Korea.

In August the USA made a effort to push back the North back into it's border with the commanding of Douglas MacArthur with landing in the North forces at Inchon.
In November the Chinese starting helping the North and back the USA in the same spot as before.

1951 - USA push the North back again in to the 38th parallel and Harry Truman fired MacArthur for going against the strategies that the USA was making.

Who won in the war?

No one truly won the war, but it did get pushed into the Korea we have today. It cause many people to die from it and it made North into a the most isolated country in the world.

Why this surrogate/proxy war is a part of the larger Cold War

This was a main thing for the cold war because it was the beginning of the capitalism and communism wars making it start the cold war at a very dreadful start. The proxy part of this war was how the USA and Soviets used it to push their views of government for what they want to spread more of.
