         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Night of Long Knives, June 1934 (Negative)</strong><br>Many SA leaders were demanding that the Nazi party carry out its socialist agenda, and that the SA should take over the army. Hitler could not afford to annoy the businessmen or the army, so the SS murdered around 400 of the SA members, including its leader Roehm. Heinrich Himmler, Hermann Goering and Joseph Goebbels felt that Roehm had become too powerful.A number of Hitler's other opponents were also murdered. </div>]]></description>

Banning political parties made Germany a one party state and destroyed democracy in the country.This made Hitler a legal dictator. Trade unions were dissolved and their leaders were imprisoned.After this action, Germans could no longer get rid of Hitler in an election.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After president Hindenburg's Death in 1934,  important conservatives like von Papen, who disliked the Nazis wanted to return to a constitutional monarchy. <br><br>However, Hitler, who was chancellor at that time had  planned to use President Hindenburg's death as an opportunity to seize total power in Germany by elevating himself to the position of Führer, or absolute leader, of the German nation and its people. <br> </div><div>Following the announcement of this apparently legal law, the German Officers' Corps and every individual in the German Army swore a personal oath of allegiance to Hitler.</div><div><br>A nationwide plebiscite (vote) was then scheduled to give the German people a chance to express their approval of Hitler's unprecedented new powers. </div><div><br></div>]]></description>
