Literature enriches a person with different perspectives of life, that changes from region to region.

Literature is one of the most significant ways to enrich one’s life. It provides knowledge of the world of today and the past. We learn about the lives of people who live in countries we will never visit. When reading we are unknowingly increasing our vocabularies. It gives us great pleasure while using very little effort. If one is ill, disabled or old and isolated it is our friend and companion. Life without literature would, in my opinion, be something to endure instead of enjoy.

Telling stories is to be human: we are a storytelling species. We will stay up at night telling ourselves stories. Literature lies at the core of my life, and my inner experience of the world. Such knowledge as I gain of other peoples lives in time and space often influences my thoughts, and my opinions on issues that I have not directly experienced myself, except in my imagination. Reading good books or writing them, allows an inner experience of the world that would take more than a hundred lifetimes. My point is that writing is thinking, and reading is to experience what others have or thought about. Though of course the great mass of Trump’s and also Morrison’s deployables will be watching fantasy TV on their devices or perhaps
watching, The Squid Game on Netflix.

Through literature, we develop emotional connections with characters and a shared community. We witness unparalleled kindness and terror. And though these experiences, we start to learn about ourselves and others. Reading the right passage can feel like the author knows us better than we know ourselves.

Literature is a portal into other people. It allows us to break down the doors of our culture, identity, and personal past. It brings us into close connection with others, allowing us to see all the horror, honor, and awe lurking in the human experience Literature allows a person to step back in time and learn about life on Earth from the ones who walked before us. We can gather a better understanding of culture and have a greater appreciation of them. We learn through the ways history is recorded, in the forms of manuscripts and through speech itself.
