I have never done anything related to ceramics ever, so it was extremely fun being able to make my own creation. With this project, I learned that I'm better with taking it day by day as opposed to planning things out. I was able to be creative with hardly any limitations, which made this project all the better. It was surprisingly easy to create this project for me and I was glad I had no hardships with this first project. If I were to re-do this project though, I would choose colors that are far more bright and contrasting. I would also smooth out the inside to make it look more neat. My favorite parts of this project are the additive elements. I like them best as they bring uniqueness to the project's overall look and are very detailed in my opinion. I had lots of trouble starting off with the base because I blended my clay around a bowl. After about 5 or 6 attempts, I finally tried it without the bowl and that made it super easy. I thought it would be the other way around which is why I tried using the same method as many times as I did. However, once I was successful in making the body/bowl, it was a very fun project to make. I was initially going to do a wolf, but I knew I wouldn't have much time to make it how I would like, so I went with the bunny. To my surprise, I ended up liking it more than how I planned the wolf to be. I am glad I went with the bowl versus full animal because I can use it to put some everyday objects inside. However, I let this project dry out for to long and it began to crack and fall apart. I saw that this project was too broken to try fixing, so I had to start all over. I will use the same additive and subtractive designs as I did with my original project, on my new one. I will also be using the same textures and color scheme I had came up with. Maybe this was for the best that my project fell apart so that I can improve on this one, but it has been very frustrating so far. One thing I will improve on though is the whole vase because my original one sort of slanted in a way that I didn't really like. The slab teared the day I was supposed to wrap it around a cylinder, so I had to start all over. The next day though was easy and it came out fine. When I was about to begin texturing, I couldn't find the original texture that I had used on my first vase, so I was beginning to get frustrated with this project again. However, I ended up finding something that helped me achieve the exact look that I was going for and it ended up looking better than the first texture, so I ended up being fortunate that I couldn't find the first one I had used. This project started coming out way better than the first, so I'm glad that my first one fell apart. I haven't really had any difficulties with this project, except with the slabs. They kept tearing apart because they were too long and not thick enough. I cut them down inch by inch everyday making new slabs until I finally got to the perfect measurements. At first I thought design plans were kind of useless because I thought I did better without plans, but then when I had to design this one, I was actually able to picture exactly what I wanted this project to look like and draw it out. The top of the board was easy but a little bit time consuming. The first side I began working on was the side that says Wu-Tang Clan on it. At first, I was just going to carve it in my regular writing, but then I thought about doing it in Old English since that is my favorite font. It was easy to trace out at first, up until I had to carve/scrape it out, which took about 4 days to do. The other sides were pretty simple to do. I had a lot of trouble with keeping the slabs to stay up and would get frustrated but finally they stayed put. My lid ended up curving because I put I messed up but I'm not mad about that. I had a bunch of ideas of what to do but when I decided on making the cd's I got really excited about it. It wasn't hard to make the slabs for the cd's, as they were really small and the detailing on them was more with paint than with texturing or anything else. The only thing about the slabs though is that one of them was too small which got me annoyed but I was able to fit everything on to it fine. The painting was very meticulous but it was a fun thing to do.
