Patterns
Before the bailey twins start their adventure in the land of stories, a pattern that we see is that Conner is not a very good student. the thing is, that Conner tries to be a good student. He studies very hard, he just doesn't preform well. The pattern is that he tries so hard and then fails, and then is upset with himself. Quote: "Yes, I studied really really hard, Dad. but it's just no use I'll never be as smart as Alex."(Colfer 48)

Details
Quote: "It was a lovely home, painted blue with white trim, and had several windows. The front yard was landscaped to perfection; it had just the right amount of grass, patches of colorful flowers, and a large oak tree ideal for climbing." (Colfer 29) These are all the big details of the twins old house.

Unanswered Questions
Quote: "What if she went into the book? No, she couldn't possibly do such a stupid thing. What if she never came out? But what if she stuck her hand into the book? What would happen? Would it hurt? Would her whole arm disappear?" (Colfer 79) These are all the things that Alex pondered while she saw the book portal open. Moments before she fell in.

Rules
Quote: "Glass that housed a lonely soul up 'til midnight's final toll.
A saber from the deepest sea, meant for a grooms mortality.
A bark of a basket held in fright while running from a bark with bite.
A stony crown that's made to share, found deep within a savage lair
A needle that pierced the lovely skin of a princess with beauty found within.
A wavy lock of golden rope, that once was freedoms only hope.
Glittering jewels whose value increased after preserving the false deceased.
Teardrops of a maiden fairy feeling neither magical nor merry." (Colfer 145-146) These riddles are the rules that need to be met for the twins to activate the wishing spell. It also adds the entire main plotline of the twins traveling the lands to obtain the items.

Ethics
In the little red riding hood kingdom, Little Red Riding hood forces Jack, from jack and the beanstalk, to visit little red riding hood's castle and every time he visits, she proposes. "The twins had never seen Jack look so bored and life-less."(Colfer 220) Even though Jack is completely uninterested, Little Red Riding Hood tries to force a relationship.

The baileys grandma is kind and giving.
“Grandma put her things away in the guest bedroom and returned to the kitchen, where she found a stack of bills Mrs. Bailey put to the aside. She plopped the mail into her own purse with a smile. And that was that. Grandma loved helping people, especially if it was against their will.” (Colfer 56) We can infer that this mail she put in her purse was bills. This helps prove the statement that she is kind and giving. She understands that her daughter and kids are in a tough situation and helps them without Mrs. Bailey knowing.

Quote: "Yes, I can work a double shift this Monday, she said into the phone, speaking from someone from the hospital. No problem. She lied." (Colfer 36)
"Even working the hours she worked, Mrs. Bailey had to get creative with money sometimes." (Colfer 37)
As readers we can infer that Conner and Alex's mom works very hard at a hospital, and that she doesn't have very much money. My strong thought is that it is wrong that their mom has to work so much for so little. Mrs. Bailey is a nurse or a doctor at a hospital, which is a super important job. As we read, we find out that she does not make very much money, and has to work double shifts. I believe that someone working for a place as important as a hospital should not have to work so hard to earn so little because doctors and nurses are saving people’s lives.

My favorite part of the story is when the children are escaping the Evil Queen and the Evil Queen gets trapped in the mirror. Alex sees herself in a shard of mirror and sees wings on herself. It was at that moment when I understood every mystery in the story. Because Alex is a fairy, that means her dad came from The Land Of Stories and used the first wishing spell to go to earth to see the twins mom. We then learn towards the very end of the book that the twins grandmother is actually Cinderela's Fairy godmother. The the Fairy Godmother opens a portal back to the real world.
