Endless hospital days

I would attend the hospital and clinic visits with my uncle whenever he needed me to go with him. I watched him go through rounds of chemo and how each round was taking a toll on him more and more. When he would be admitted to the hospital for days, I would watch the nurses administer his medicine and try to make him as comfortable as they could, regarding his conditions. There was something about taking care of others and the amount of empathy they had, that made me admire that career and passion.

When he had his radiation treatments, I was always in aw of how they started everything.

To my surprise, what intrigued me even more than nursing, was radiology. The way that the whole technology worked and they were able to see if the chemo was working or if it had spread to even more parts since it had already metastisized when he got the dx .

At one point, I saw the radiology technologist, administer and do radiation pills. I was curious and asked, if that was still all a part of radiology. She replied back to me and told me, it was a branch of radiology and this was nuclear medicine and the pills were radioactive iodine. This set something off inside me that I did not know.

When I am done with my schooling and I finish the radiology program, I will be making my move to Fort Worth, Texas with my fiancee which is where he lives. Where I hope to work at a hospital or oncology clinic to help people like my uncle because I know what it is to be in that situation. I then want to go back to school and get my certificate in nuclear medicine technology, TCC is one of the best colleges for radiology and nuclear medicine technology. Then I hope to pursue a higher education and get my bachelors in Radiology Technology.
